Elf vs. Human

For someone who wants to focus mainly on magic and range, and possibly some fighter and alch (To expirement with, since i've never really gotten into either of them.) and basically no melee, would you guys suggest a human or an elf? I currently have a human, but i've been reading around and seeing as how elves have advantages in both range and magic, i figured it might be better to main an elf. My human is really low leveled, so starting over isn't a problem.

Another question, if i do go with elf, and i've heard that its better to rank refine before you rank up your ranged skills, would it be possible to focus on alch or fighter untill i finish refine?

If you completely ignore melee forever, elf is a better choice. I would start with getting Magnum and Critical Hit to r1. Then, it is easy mode from there.

But what about refine? Should i rank that before magnum and crit?

I'd say yes the less dex the easier it is.

I'm a human fighter/alchemist. The only thing I can say helps with fighter is Final Hit but honestly, I wish I was a elf. The speed is amazing. Honestly if Martial Arts is the weakest for Elves, it'll be nice if they lower the AP requirements for Elf and Humans and increase it for Giants.

Ideally yes. However, the dex giving by magnum is really insignificant. Nowadays, with reforge and destiny, the amount you need to fail for success has really fallen a lot.

Besides, which is more fun for you? Killing monsters or trying to get ores from the lake with your pan?

Or do it like me, get a reforged refine exp 2 item, buy ores and spend a few hundred k to get refine to 5. That's from when onwards you don't have to fail so much anymore, and can safely rank dex.

Not to mention falcon gives a HUUUUGE amount of mana. If you just prefer mage/ranger like me, then elf is definitely the way to go.
