[Scythe Evie] Help a new player out! I'm in serious need of some advice...
Howdy, folks.
I'm Level 42 in Vindictus, so I've just started playing, but I'm now beginning to have a very difficult time with the bosses. Currently, Flicker beat the living crap out of me for several rounds 'til I finally won (with some very reluctant use of some NX Credits for a revival)—and now I'm getting stomped by the Fleeing Gnoll King. I've only very recently adopted the habit of playing through on Normal instead of Hard because of these.
It's difficult to get a party for these levels since they're relatively low and, for some reason, I'm much more comfortable soloing things anyway (the case for pretty much all games when it comes to me). I also have a tendency to play during the wee hours of the morning, making it all the more difficult to party.
I'm beginning to think that switching to a Staff Evie might be a better idea, but I really, really enjoy Scythe—hell, when I saw her holding a Scythe in the character-creation screen, I knew 100% that that's what I wanted, so I'd really only switch if I had to. I know for a fact that I want to play an Evie, though.
I've got Intelligence Mastery, Magic Mastery, Standing Endurance, Cloth Armor Proficiency, and Smash Mastery to Rank A, and am currently working on ranking Bloody Thread.
It's becoming very difficult to dodge bosses in a manner that gives me enough time to pull something off that does more damage than LLR (and even LLR is difficult sometimes)—and if I don't dodge perfectly, I get knocked to the ground and often killed immediately. It's quite frustrating to spend 10 minutes destroying trash to get to a boss, and die in a minute and a half... over and over and over. I was planning on farming Blood Lord for the armor, but... uh... I don't know how well that'll work out.
- As a Scythe Evie, how should I be approaching bosses?
- Is Soloing as a Scythe Evie way more difficult than I originally thought?
- Can you give some suggestions as to how to succeed using a Scythe Evie?
- I've read:
http://www.vindictuswiki.com/wiki/Sc...echnical_Guide http://www.vindictuswiki.com/wiki/Scythe_Evie_Guide
... which were both very helpful. Is there any other material like this?
- Since I die in a couple of hits, I've come to the conclusion that soloing with a Scythe Evie will require some fantastic timing and dodging skills. Are there any strategies I should employ when dodging bosses? I've read that, come Boat 6 (Episode 6?) bosses begin to get very large and have wide-sweeping attacks. Say I master the bosses I'm working on now: How will the transition be and how can I make the smoothest transition from these bosses to those?
I'd appreciate any help what so ever.

Edit: I just wrecked Flicker, but that was by abusing spears on Normal. I typically carry mine-bombs for any veins I find, and spamming spears whenever I can doesn't really seem... productive to learning how to better play my class.

Not a scythe player, but I'm gonna try to help.
Don't force yourself to LLLLR, and always think about options while blinking. If something doesn't have great tracking, you can probably blink right through it, lol. When stuff gets bigger, you'll probably have to adjust for each attack. This seems like it's gonna be difficult, but it won't, because you'll be fighting the same set of things over and over again.

I'll be honest, I feel Evie is the weakest solo character as well. For both Scythe and Staff. She has terrible stamina regeneration, she's pretty squishy besides for Mana Shield (which gets better, so just hang in there!), and she's somewhat slow.
However, it's still very doable. Stick to LR and LLR pokes, as that's what soloing usually entails. Anything longer then that is mainly for knockdown. Also just take it slowly, you need to have a ton of stamina available at all times to be able to blink out of situations. Don't force yourself to go in with <30 Stamina.

I just destroyed the Gnoll Warchief—I had never thought of blinking through the boss before, but I guess that isn't going to help me for long. I'm glad to know that using so much LLR isn't a sign that I don't know how to play an Evie, also.
It's unfortunate that they're the weakest solo-class, though. Thanks for the suggestions, gents. Any more are much appreciated.

I ish evie player! LLR or Hell Quake is really good spam it not much stamina use and about 5 hits. That combined with the oh so beautiful wisp can help. The Wisp is your distraction for stamina regen and for your health pot. now only LLLLR when he is staggering. At the moment you are correct 6th boat and up they will start to attack left to right but for now they don't so most of the time blinking left or right when they attack is good. When they attack left to right blink backwards. And sir please max your blink you didn't put it up there with the A's so I am assuming it is F. Use Insane Reaper good stamina regen. Will help you blink more and if its rank 9 more atk speed xD. After LLR Always bunny hop back bcuz evie tends to jump foward with Hell Quake

It actually does have its long-term uses, it just won't work on everything. It works on some raids like Glas just fine.

Try to work on dodging attacks without using Blink. Blink consumes so much stamina, it will leave you screwed over. Try just bunny hopping away or even just running if you can to preserve stamina. If it is an attack that is hard or impossible to dodge regularly, then just Blink. On later bosses, most you will ever have time to do is an LLR attack (Hell Quake is the name of it). Don't worry about getting to that 4th smash, unless the boss is down and you have enough time. If the boss gets up fairly quickly, and you have just enough time for an LLLR (Soul Skewer), then just do it. Just get off whatever you can then get out of the way so you don't get killed. Don't forget to place your snaps on the bosses as well, I am going to assume you already know how to do that. I highly recommend ranking Insane Reaper as a priority skill, as it regenerates stamina and increases attack speed once high enough, and for everyone in the party (attack speed doesn't affect party, I think).
Priority skills (I am just listing important skills, rank in whatever order you find suits you best):
Magic Mastery
Intelligence Mastery
Magic Critical Hits
Mana Shield
Willpower Mastery
Revive
Blink
Mark of Death
SP: Insane Reaper
Battle Scythe: Bloody Thread
SP: Reverse Gravity

Hi
Well i yes soloing an evie is not the best idea but like me i have a bad ping for chinese people so i dont party so i really almost soloed everything
As you said that your getting a hard time dodging right?
Well my tips is if you cant Dodge it by its side blink through it
And since your lvl 42 do the quest pact story for a transformation quest well soloing that quest isnt the best idea but try and try and youll eventually kill him
now for lvl 40 quest the giant spider
i insist you blink through her always
after doing so land a LLR blink through rinse repeat
or blink through then land a LLLR do land a snap but be sure your weapons speed is atleast +3 (+6 weapon)
Also when your soloing a boss take atleast 4 mins to read and memorize the pattern and rhythm of its attacks
As for warchief or other bosses that runs up to you always late blink
Late blink means is to hop first then blink this can save your ass almost about everytime but i dont reccomened it using everytime but only for wide speep attacks
like hop to right then blink forward
also do not rely much on LLLLR on bosses since it may do some good damage it isnt the fastest attack out there

Well i totally disagree Well yeah evie is hard to solo yet its really much of a challenge since soloing a dungeon tests your survivability but ofcourse this is your opinion
