I need advice over a guild issue.

I could type pages on problems like this, but it all comes down to the same thing.

Kick him, don't lose sleep over it.

Tell him his behaviour isn't up to your standards and it helps if you have the screenshots to prove it.

Is he giving a bad name to the guild? If yes, remove.
(Many people usually judge a guild based on their experience after meeting one of their member, even tho this is very judgemental... "So and so meet this person and he's a noob, therefore the guild is noob").

But in all seriousness, judging a guild based on a member is reasonable. Even if your guild has nice helpful people in it, allowing a selfish scammer to be a member is basically saying "we're okay with this person being a big jerk." If you're not okay with people behaving a certain way, why would you want/let them in your guild?

Guild image is very important. Usually people won't make their judgement based completely off one single member, but it's still better to have none at all. First impressions usually stick, and just two or three bad experiences is enough to get you permanently labeled in the eyes of an outsider. IMO, you don't need to discuss it with other members since you have a perfectly legitimate reason, but being democratic about it doesn't hurt (unless they rule in favor of keeping him despite his attitude).

You need a backbone if your going to run a guild. I ran a guild for a while and decided I didn't like kicking people and making them hate me. So I turned it over to my officer and left. Now I'm just a happy guild member who doesn't have that kind of headache.

Applications and Interviews are very common for serious guilds who do not joke around with members.
Set your standards a little higher (not total level or anything like that, lol) and emphasize the need for manners and affability in all members
