Gear Share your gameplay tips and tricks

Since it doesn't look like we have one, this thread will be for sharing any kind of tips and strategies to playing the game! It can be any kind of advice - from general do's and don'ts to specific information on classes vs. bosses. And remember, these need to be tips that you use!

I'll start by listing some that I know:

-Drink a potion when the boss has his attention on someone else, or is far from you.
-(Lanns) Use sprint smash as a second dodge, to go before your slip dashes!
-Colru's green golem hater fire aura can be bypassed using invincibility frames, the aura activates about every second and a half.
-Sitting (Pressing F11) repeatedly also draws boss aggro, so does drinking a potion, creating a campfire, and using chain hooks (might apply to other secondary weapons as well).
Vindictus: East server, WingedBlade (Lann), BlastedArrow (Evie), DoubleCheek (Fiona), Raidical (Karok), ARiceBun (Kai)

Mabinogi: Alexina, Mobster1337, Raptorwing, Metalhorn, Phiggs, Fallenamber.

I believe using a feather also draws aggro.

    Uhm let's see here...

-(Fionas) Don't try to tank the spiked roller traps, sadly you're the only ones who can't bypass them.
-If there's multiple bosses take them out one at a time, this reduces chaos and more importantly damage to you.
-Use trans. It's free and it gives you a huge boost in power. Besides, it will never get better unless you use it often.
-Break the erg pots, they have good chances of containing magic powder, erg crystals or spirit remnants.

    Kayy, let's see...

    Evies--Staff

-Put up a corona in the boss room every chance you get; having a corona up at all times speeds up the time it takes to kill the boss because players won't have to pot as often.
-Only mana amber when you absolutely have to; this takes up a big chunk of stamina and leaves you wide open for attack if you don't have any.
-It's better to max your magic arrow skill and spam that constantly than to use a smash every chance you get. Smashes take longer to finish, therefore leaves you open to attack if you can't get out of it fast enough.
-(This applies to all classes) When you need to get out of the way quickly, spam the shift button and press down on the direction key you wish to move in. This takes up a lot of stamina but for attacks like Alghan's spin, it does the trick.
-Not really a combat thing but a friend of mine showed it to me. When you're at the Market place in Rocheste; does it ever randomly kick you out? If so, simply run up to the MP and press f10. The reason it kicks you out is because your character moves to a different standing position, so if you use f10 your character won't move.
-Also on the corona, let people know where you put the corona, and try to keep it in the middle of the room--this will make it easier to find.

    Mmmkay, for raids.
    Siglint:
    - A good healing opportunity is when he is air striking (Flying but not grabbing people). Drink an HP pot right after you dodge the attack and you have a safe healing opportunity.
    - For hemdrill bombing, have your party mates clear the middle to make it easier to drop him out of the sky.
    - If you didn't break off the tail already, a spear hit while he's trying to heal will prevent him from doing such. RG also works.
    - (Sword Lann, Scythe Evie, Kai) In the 24 man raid, ALWAYS dodge when he uses the circles which can overlap. The lag on the servers makes you prone to invisible circles.
    - In the 24 man raid, if you are stuck on catapult duty, do not stay on it constantly. Stand near it and only get on it when he goes stone, this way you can live to see the end of the raid as you won't have to deal with being killed due to lack of sight.

    Elchulus:
    - It's possible to make elchulus go into the phase where you can knock him down with ballistas from where he shoots the black balls from the floating island. You have to shoot him from the center balis on the right side of the map as he is flying back to land. After he turns around for his final stretch to land, the glitch isn't possible.

    Lann Sword Dodge:

    Elchulus:
Dive attack: When he flies up to start the dive, turn your camera at him, run to the right a little, and then slip dash rapidly to dodge

Fire Breath: Dodge to the left or right of his attack, they dont have that great of a width on the hitbox

Dash attack: Pay attention to when he's about to dash, if you're in front of him the best thing to do is go to the right side, he lifts his right claw breifly, and slip dash to the right from that

    No particular boss:
I've always found it best to dodge into an attack, which gives you a very small time of actually being within the hit box. Not always possible with bosses like Lionotus or thor. But definately possible with two legged raids. (Keaghan, Ingkells, Glas, Colru ect.)

    While using potions
    - Don't stand next to someone.
    -Don't stand near the boss
    -stand far away as possible
-Always go for the boost by taking your hand off the potion button right after your character finishes drinking it.

    Staff Evie
    - Don't put cornias up next to someone drinking potions. Odds are you're either gonna give them a near useless cool down, and waste their current pot.

    Sprint Dashing
-By Mashing the shift key, you can get your character to do what I call "Sprint Dashing" Its slightly faster than sprinting, and can really be useful for things like Aghlan's windmill.

    Useless but fun glitch
-Take your weapons off on a boat, and hold shift and try to move.

You'll just slide around without moving your legs, it can be done with emotes and sitting

Dodge dodge attack attack. If you can't dodge something ask a friend or guildie.
Don't try to be innovative or different in randomly joined raids. It's trans after fire in colru;123 in Lionotus; balli loock Glas and trans; same for Titan. Rape Thor. Sadly, I've tried!

My advice is to look for a fun and friendly guild who doesn't take this game so seriously or solo shit!

somewhat new to the game but here are my newbee tips (XE server for clarification)

    Fiona:
-you don't need to let the full shield repair SP animation run to fix your shield, just click the SP skill and run / dodge out
-don't be a heavy stander spammer on Elchulus like I was, ending up breaking your shield, you only need minor steps to the side to avoid most of his attacks
-almost all trash enemies can be swooped into the air by clicking your smash key once while standing still, it gives you a nice time window to kill the enemy without being attacked
-try to take your team mates into account, don't go kicking and smashing enemies all over the place making evie do half her AE damage, try to pick mobs that are available without interfering with other players

    Glas:
There is a small area where Glas cannot hit you with his swords AT ALL. Stick to his right foot. (All classes)

    Karoks:
Clash for Beokros is that split second his claw (after he's made it huge and brought it up to swipe down) starts to move down. You have to be standing at about half the distance away from the beginning of his head moving back, to the end of his claws by the end of the swipe.
Clash for Liono is when he does his right-hand swipe and tail spin, the ideal place to stand to catch his tail is around mid-swing.
If you're going pillar, throwing your pillar is useless. You lose out on a lot of DPS for that, and should only be used for some weird situations (I don't even know what)

I never really saw the usefulness of doing that, but I've never played Karok.
Maybe it's just for teh lolz.

*A general rule for most bosses attacks is to not dodge away from it (due to the fact that many attacks are long, but not wide), but instead to dodge "through" it, so that you'll be behind the enemy. ScyEvies can do this very well because of Blink. (During the "absense" part of blink, your character's hitbox is not present.)

**That being said, be very careful on bosses which can turn 180 degrees mid-way through a combo that has multiple attacks as such. You might get your partners hit, and people who notice these things tend to get annoyed by it occuring multiple times.

*ScyEvies - Soul Skewer (LLLR) works wonders on the Knights and Hounds in Ortel Castle (because of their annoying knockback, and Soul Skewer can hook enemies, interrupting their attack combo). Link a Mark of Death after that if you can to help take care of them.

*StEvies - When the [FINISH] icon appears right above a dead monster, you can stand next to it and quickly click and release your right mouse button (or whichever you have Focus charging set to) to count as a "smash" and quickly get the evil core to appear. This is because charging focus does a slight bit of damage and has a slight knockback. The knockback of it can only really be noticed on evil cores and normal mobs (not bosses).

**StEvies also have a heavy stander while using focus. The effect becomes stronger with the more focus charges you have. The effect of 3 or 4 charges can be useful on non-raid bosses.
4 charges might be able to block knockback from some raid bosses' attacks, but I haven't tried.

*Sit-stand-sit... spamming can be useful to drag Lionotus to the drop-off edge! Use it! And stop draging Lionokitty over to the ziggurat in the background (by running over to it to drink potions, unless you're trying to do him without dropoffs! It's annoying! If you need to use potions, be cautious about dodging and wait until he's dropped. You have a wonderful opportunity then!

**And while we're on the topic of Lionokitty, when you're trying to get him back on 3F after he's recovered from being dropped, stay at the drop-off point! If everybody's there, it's very easy to drop him again within 5-10 seconds of him recovering, instead of having an extra 2-4 minutes because somebody aggro'ed him and dragged him too far back.

    *Dragons:
+ Breaking off the wings does not 100% ground them, but it does seem to reduce their time spent airborne.
+ Breaking off the tail will reduce the range of tailswipe by about 1/2 or so. Maybe a bit more.
+ Breaking off the horn/ spine doesn't seem to affect their attacks.

    *People: RANK ffs:
    + Standing Endurance
    + Life Flare
+ Willpower Mastery (increases the chances of those two working)
    + Defense Mastery
    + Health Mastery
I have had my life saved many times by life flare proc'ing 3 times in a row after the boss successfully managed to crit me 4 times in a row. I've found too many people who don't rank these and then complain that they can't survive a few hits!
Fact of gameplay: You WILL get hit. Invest in your defense!

Fact of gameplay: You WILL get hit. Invest in your defense!
These skills are mostly not that urgent. Standing Endurance is a good skill, but it's really only urgent to Rank 9 for the bonus effect. Certain combos (i.e. Keaghen's 4 hit) will still leave you in an unavoiadable attack even if you SE the first hit.

Life Flare can only activate when you have more than 1HP, the only time you'll ever get chain Life Flares is when you have some HP restoring effect on you (Restoration ES, Regeneration, etc.). Even at max rank and with a ton of Willpower, it is not something you want to rely on. Most moves that will kill you either bypass Life Flare or are multihit (and thus will break through Life Flare).

Willpower Mastery is stupidly expensive after a point and the health bonus isn't worth it. The boosts to SE or Life Flare activation rate is still not going to make up for the AP costs and I've already pointed out flaws with relying on the two skills.

Defense Mastery goes hand in hand with Defense stacking, in that it's relatively useless until you reach the point where it's actually useful. 420 Def is a good boost, but you're still getting killed in the same number of hits regardless of if you have 2000 or 2500 Def. It's a good skill, just not that important for Evies.

Health Mastery is only 230 HP at max rank. Honestly, 230 HP is at best 1 more hit (with 9k+ Def) you can tank. And if you have 9k+ Def you're probably not going to die to most traditional attacks. If you're not at that point, then it's very unlikely that this health buffer will offer significant boost to survivability. 2850AP for that HP is not worth it.

Heavily investing into these skills is mediocre at best, unnecessary at worst. Quite a few skills offer boosts in the damage of upwards of 50% for their smashes, and killing a boss faster usually means dying less.

None of those skills will make or break your survival (sides r9 Standing Endurance), so it's not worth sinking thousands of AP here instead of elsewhere.
