New Elf

So, I've pretty much hit a dead wall with my main human, and I want to actually play on my assistant Elf for once. Problem is, I'm not willing to spend a dime on my Elf and since I don't want another melee warrior, I can't just transfer items to make up for my unwillingness to fund Ms.Elf. Now, I looked through guides and I'm convinced I want to go with Alchemy, but I have heard dozens upon dozens of times that Alchemy takes massive coin to actually be viable. I was interested in becoming a Flame Alchemist because I have a spare Flamerider set hanging around.... only problem is, I have no clue as to how Alchemists work.

Also, with wiki down, I fear this is the worst time I could possibly choose to play on a new character. Before this looks like text upon text regarding a small question... I'll make it simple. Is Flame Alchemist on a Elf without funding worth it?

Wait for some more input. I know people who alt flame elves (their movespeed makes it sexy) and I know they don't spend money on them actively...but me and my friends might be a bit noob compared to what you're expecting out of your flame elf.

Elves are probably better alchemists due to run speed and stamina, the only foreseeable downside I can think of is that you'll have less defense without heavy armour.

From what I've heard though, Alchemists are heavily dependant on enchants to buffer their damage, also that Fire enchants have poor synergy with critical enchants so it might be difficult to find a reasonable damage set without heavy funding.

Personally I've always felt that alchemy was a lolgags-Tier of combat, but don't let that swing you.
