    Hello Nation! I finally finished this guide to being an Battle alchemist, I hope this guide gives you enough information needed to have a good idea on how to become a good Battle alchemist!

    [Understanding the Skills]

    The Alchemy skillet is quite unique compared to others, All Alchemy skills require a Cylinder to use.
    In this part, I'll be listing and explaining the Alchemy skills and their properties.


    Watercannon
    The first and basic Alchemy skill is Watercannon, powerful single-target skill, never misses and very reliable.

    FlameBurst
    This basic Alchemy skill acts just like a flamethrower, hitting and burning all enemies in front of you.

    Chain Cylinder
    The core skill for all battle alchemists, this goes without saying. Allows the user to cast multiple charges of Watercannon and FlameBurst.

    Life Drain
    This Alchemy skill is well known for it's uses, it heals the user while dealing painful damage.

    Windblast
    This Alchemy skill gives you distance between you and your opponent

    Sandburst
    The Alchemy once frowned upon, now is one of the most handy skills in the games.

    Heat Buster
    Alchemy's "Smash" skill, blowing up your target with a powerful explosion.

    Frozenblast
    This ALchemy skill is very much like Flameburst, but instead of burning your enemies, it freezes them soild.

    Shock
    This Alchemy skill covers your body with electricity and zap all surronding targets for a fixed amount of time.

    Barrier Spikes
    A skill that allows you use cast a wooden wall to protect yourself from threats.

    Rain Casting
    A alchemy skill that allows you to cast a cloud to rain down on your enemies, buffing Water alchemy and production.

    Golem Summoning
    Summon a controllable Golem to aid in combat.
     Info


    Elemental Wave
    Uses the power of the elemental to buffs the next Alchemy skill after activation.

    Golden time
    Fills the Elemental meter 100%, thus enables the use of Elemental Wave.

    Hydra
    Summons miniature Uroborus to poison surrounding enemies.

    Guard Cylinder Mastery
    Increases the effectiveness of Alchemy while using the Guard Cylinder

    Side notes:
    • The "cap" for Health, Mana and Stamina, meaning, Watercannon will stop gaining damage at 1.5k Mana.
    • Alchemists can benfit from every stat expect Dexterity
    - Strength gives Defense
    - Int gives gives Magic Defense
    - Will gives Critical and Magic Protection
    - Luck gives Critical

    [Important Skills for Battle Alchemists]

    A list of other skills for Alchemists, the basic needs and what I recommend.

    Needs

    Critical hit
    This is needed, rank whenever possible
    • Increases critical damage up to +150%
    • Gives Will

    Windmill
    This skill is very important, being able to knock away all surrounding enemies will save your life and be able to take out weaker targets.
    • Gives Will

    Defense
    Being able to block an attack as well as stunning enemies is very important.
    • Works great with guard cylinder
    • Gives HP
    • Gives Base Defense

    Counter Attack
    Being able to counter incoming attacks can work out very well and save your life.
    • Can load Alchemy skills right after countering.

    Recommended

    Charge
    A nice skill to have, gives the user nice mobility and a way to counter ranged attacks.
    • Gives Stamina

    Shield Mastery
    Just something nice to rank up since Guard Cylinders benefit from it.

    Assault Slash
    This can prove to be useful for finishing off the target or extending combos
    If delayed for the right amount of time, the enemy won't bounce back up and you can get a free hit in.

    Evasion
    A great skill to have, being able to dodge arrows and bolts can save your life.

    Sing
    Song at rank5 or higher allows you to use Bard skills without the need of an instrument, pretty straight forward why I'm recommending this.

    Vivace
    Increases the charging speed of Alchemy skills.
    • Gives Mana

    Lullaby
    A Bard skills that puts mobs to sleep, its very useful.
    • This skills has the bast synergy with Hydra Transmutation.

    Berserk
    This skill, even at low ranks is very useful for setting up Rain Casting without getting interrupted
    • Gives Str
    • Keep in mind while in use, it drops your Defense and Magic Protection.

    Study: Potion Lore
    Something you would wanna rank later on, if not earlier. Ranking this gives the chance of giving you potion "criticals" when you use them, which is very handy.

    There are different types of cylinders, some boost a certain Element while negativing others and Guard cylinders that act just like a Shield, when using both your able to use more skills and have accses to the Elemental meter.

    • Tower Cylinders increase Alchemy range by 80%.

    - - - About Ego Cylinders - - -

    "Are Ego Cylinders worth the time and effort?" For offensive purposes, no.
    The reason why you wouldn't wanna use a ego cylinder for combat s mainly due to how the Elemental Effectiveness works. It doesn't effect Watercannon's or Flameburst's base damage, but instead it effects their "Additional" damage, which isn't effected by critical damage or charge count(Besides Flameburst).

    "Well, are they good for supportive alchemy?" I've heard from players that ego cylinders are great for skills such as Frozenblast and Hydra transmutation. I don't know the exactly details on how ego's "Effectiveness", but I would imagine they would apply in the same spot as the masteries for all alchemy skills.

    Earthquake & Tower Cylinder egos seems to be the current best so far, the Clay Alchemic Enhancement seems to have a noticable effect on Hydra Transmutation.

    Water Alchemy Enhancement seems to have a notable effect on Rain Casting's cloud radius.

    • Enchants such as Moist aren't recommended purely cause of it's 10x repair cost, your better off using ripple, trust me.
    • Even though you can put Moist on the Wooden Guard cylinder, the repair cost will only be around 5k per point.
    • Reforges such as Heat Buster Max Damage wasn't recommended due to Heat Buster's nature of being "Flat" damage, though it can possible be viable with Heatwave(Elemental Wave Heat Buster). Water & Fire alchemy Efficiency reforges only add into Watercannon's and Flameburst's additional damage, not base damage.
    • Guard Cylinders only receive Shield-only reforges, though you can still get +Hp, Mp and Stamina reforges, which is still beneficial.
    • The Raincasting Watercannon Damage reforge can activate under anyones cloud.
    • If your collecting Belvast seals for Magma, don't forget you can get Ripple and Explosive from Slevin's "Sketch Blue-winged Booby," quest.

    [Synergy with other Skillsets]

    Alchemy itself, has alot of utility and combination possibilities, Guard cylinders help alot of classes out, such as Combat and Magic, in this segment I'll list some combinations of alchemy with various skill sets.

    Combat with Alchemy
    With the introduction of Guard cylinder, you can use melee weapons along with a guard cylinder, opening up a lot of combinations and utilities. Giants can use Lances along with guard cylinders.
    Smash Cannon
    Smash your target, follow with an assault slash then watercannon, or just use watercannon after the smash.
    Wind Charge
    Windblast your target then follow quickly after it with charge, this will give you alot of room between you, the target and the rest of the mob.


    Magic with Alchemy
    Mages benefit the best from guard cylinders, being able to use shock, Sandburst, barrier spikes and so on with them. High ranked sandburst will allow the mage to full charge something like fusionbolt(Ice+fire) and (Ice+lightning) uninterrupted.

    Archery with Alchemy
    Archery has some synergy with alchemy. Archers can effectively utilize Barrier spikes for protection and Shock for stun, this comes in handy for the use of Crashshot.
    Elemental-Wave Frozenblast works great with crash shot.

    Fighter with Alchemy
    As said above, Fighters don't get much from alchemy, but they benefit from Shock and Raincasting which help their lack of mob control, plus Lifedrain is a great replacement for Respite.

    Puppetry with Alchemy
    With chain cylinder now activating at 100% with all charges, using Flameburst after a mob that was pulled together by Crisis is a truly devastating combo. Frozenblast and Frozen wave are great to use after Crisis as well.

    Gunslinger with Alchemy
    Gunslingers can benefit from alchemy skills such as Shock and Raincasting for uninterrupted use of Frenzy.
    Sandburst is good to use when you need to use reload.

    [Battle Tactics & Tips]

    In this section I'll give some tips and pointers for fighting as a battle alchemist.


    Prioritizing Targets with Chain Cylinder: When chain cylinder activates, use it on a bulky monster, or a monster with full health, even if your already in combat with a monster, It'd be a waste to use the chain on a monster with less then 25% of it's health left(depending on the monster though)

    Work with your teammates: If one thing is important in the early part of mabinogi, it's teamwork.
    If you have a puppeteer in your group, ask if he or she is willing to let you flameburst the monsters that were Crisis'd into a pile. If your party member is taking out monsters with AoE skills, attack monsters that they can't reach, better then letting them do all the work for you.

    Try to help out: If you see a teammate in distress or about to be attacked, try to save them, using a long ranged skill such as watercannon, shock and lifedrain can be effective, if the monster is close enough, use sandburst.

    Know your enemy's defenses: It's important to know if your target is gonna render your attack useless or not. Be wary of monsters with Mana deflector level 3(such as Ghosts and Cloakers) and should be aware of the monster's elemental, you don't wanna be put in between a rock and a hard place!

    Get the most out of your skills: It's smart to Freeze as many mobs as you can with Frozenblast/Elemental- Wave Frozenblast or to hit as many enemies with Flameburst and Heatbuster, even waiting for enemies to move close enough to each other can be beneficial.

    Disco Golem: Shocked Golems will draw in aggro, you can also used Shock on a Iron Golem and spam taunt on it. You can also use Elemental-waved Shock on a Iron Golem with the help of golden time.

    Keep your Hydra close, keep your enemies closer: While fighting with a hydra out, it's a good idea to fight/push the mobs towards the hydra! you can also use Sand burst, Lullaby or even a Stun pet to keep the enemies by the poison.

    Last part of the guide, I'll explain Elemental Wave and the Elemental Meter!


    "What exactly is Elemental Wave?": It is a unique skill that enhances the effects of the following alchemy skill, It effects Heat Buster, Frozen Blast, Shock, Summon Golem & Life Drain. When activated the enhanceable skill's icon will glow yellow, similar to Heat Buster. You enable it by filling up the elemental meters by using alchemy skills, different skills add a certain percentage into the meters when used, if you get knocked unconscious or change channels, the meters will deplete.


    Elemental Wave Enhancements
    Heat Buster
    Hits 2 extra times
    Damage is increased by 25%

    Frozen Blast
    Animation Changed
    Changes into a circular AoE instead of linear.
    Success rate improved

    Shock
    Animation Changed
    Duration increased(1 second per-rank)
    Range Increased by 300
    Damage increased by 10%

    Summon Golem
    Golem's appearance Changed
    Base stats Improved
    Gains the Taunt skill

    Life Drain
    Animation Changed
    Damage increased by 25%
    Health regeneration boosted by 10%

    Elemental Meter

    The Elemental Meter is a gauge that pops up on your screen when you equip two cylinder, it can be moved freely around your screen and can be minimized.

    As mentioned before, you fill up the meters by using alchemy skills, each use of a skill will add into the meter by a certain percentage, an example would be Watercannon, after you use it, it'll add 20% into the water meter and 10% into the wind meter, you can use Golden Time to fill up the meters completely.

    • When a meter fills, a blue crest will appear above it.
    • Dying, relogging or changing channels will reset the meters.
    • Dying, relogging or changing channels will cancel out Elemental wave if it's active.
    • The meter's progress will stay on the current guard cylinder, even if you unequip it.
    • The elemental meters will increase stats and reduce cooldowns when filled by 50%.
    -Fire Orb: +10~150 Health depending on Fire Alchemy rank
    -Water Orb: +10~150 Mana depending on Water Alchemy rank.
    -Wind Orb: Reduced Cooldowns depending on Wind Alchemy rank.
    -Clay Orb: +10~150 Stamina depending on Clay Alchemy rank

    i find it funny how r1 guard cylinder reduction (-10%) is better than hurricane's reductions (-12%)
