How practical is flame burst in combat. With upcoming G12, it looks very strong and formidable. But, with 1.75 load time at rank 1, is it spamable? Water Cannons only 0.25 better in speed.
Aswell as, how is the damage?

I think Flame Burst is mostly used for support and partymembers' blaze knockdowns. You can stun enemies for long amounts of time using flame burst.

Flame Burst's damage is only good at 3+ charges. At 1 charge, you'll deal like 2s to Adv SM monsters. Flamer relies on it's ability to ignore protection when calculating critical(much like WM), so it's very deadly when you've got a high Critical Hit rank and 30% critical or higher. At 5 charges, I can deal 490 something with one critical. However, like Phanterz said, Flame Burst is more supportive, providing over 5 seconds of hitstun to monsters to relieve some aggro off other players, or to prepare for large scale attacks like Thunder. Heat Buster does come out in G12, and since you're going to be using a Flame Cylinder mostly for Flamer to increase it's damage, it's a good combination.
As for charge time, enemies will slowly progress towards you even with that fast of a charge time, so you'll most likely end up charging up 1 round and then using it right away to prevent yourself form getting hit. Charge at will when enemies seem to be in Defense or Counter to increase your damage output.
