First of all, not sure If I should post this here or in Bean Rua, but I do want more of a serious thread this time, so if it's switch to Bean Rua if you must.
So first of all, I'm in a dumb french part in Canada called Quebec. The school system over here is different then other provinces. We have Kindergarten, Grade 1-6, Secondary 1-5, Cegep, University.
Secondary is like a mix of Jr.High and Highschool and Cegep can be considered something like College I guess. Anywho (Steals from Timexpo), I don't really know how normal colleges are like, so yeah. For some courses, we need more advance courses in are secondary to enter (prealables?) some courses in college. Like if something is focused more in a career in science, you may need chemistry and physics, etc. The advance courses you can take in secondary are Chemistry, Physics and Math SN or TS. Though math is kinda particular since sometimes you just need to have basic math (CST) 4 or 5. Some courses just need advance math 4, so you don't really need to pass that course in secondary 5.
Anyways, since I want all my doors open, I took all the advance courses I could last year and pass all of them except my math (why did I not study T_T, I know I have the abilities to pass). So right now I'm doing my Chemistry, Physics and Math TS 4 :<.
So near december, we have to apply for cegeps. Thinking Dawson, Vanier or John Abott (YAY, MY FIRST ENGLISH SCHOOL), but I really do not know what courses I want to take, which makes me panic a little. I do know what my dad wants me to do though... He wants me to be a marine engineer and send me to Rimouski, some place faraway in the east :<. I don't really know myself If I want to do that... And that failed Math TS 4 thing made my chances of going to some courses slim. I'm really confused at what courses I want to take, and december is coming soon T_T. I did some of those career tests at school. First one said I want a career in cultures, second test says I want to be in economics or something business like, third one says I want a career in science or something. So now I am even more confused >_>.
So just seeking out some advice here and there on what I should take. Should I just do what my father wants me to do? Did you guys ever had a dilemma like this? Why is this a big wall of text?

First of all, never trust those career testing things, they don't work.
They told me to go become a gunsmith.
Since you failed Math, I doubt you'd be able to go into Economics and most Sciences though...

Since your math did not do well
Some of the sceinces like physics and chem will be off limits to you
Yea and economics is all about money numbers
So try something you like
Maybe arts,technical skills?

What I was good at was math and science, though that kinda backfired on me xD.
Worst part is that I know my stuff, I was just lazy.
Though this may be an excuse out of 1/4th of the students passed that course every year, but its an excuse so eff that.
I can always take a special kinda program which lets me do my high school stuff while i'm in college of course, already got my chemistry and physics. Chem is kinda hard since I ain't good at remember what is what, but physics is kinda e/z and fun (for now).
The problem is that I really don't know what to do in college and my deadline is coming soon :<.

I had the same dilemma as you did in secondary 5 (yay quebec...not) and I decided to follow a friend in multimedia. I regreted it, and found out I didn't want to do that, so I quitted. I took a semester off to think about things, and went back in social science to study psycholgy. While I don't know what you might wanna do, I could suggest you social science as it include many work choice (psychology, sociology, history, teaching, economic (yeah you don't really need advanced maths class), etc.) Choosing a class in college and regretting it isnt a bad thing, you will learn by yourself what you dislike, and you might discover what you want to do later.

KANAM!
Been some time since I've heard from you man.
What interest me are something like games, computers and stuff.
Did a few more CURSUS tests, I think that's what its called, at school today.
I seem to only score high on a domain concerning informatique (computers and stuff).
That's something I pretty much expected, might start over there and study about some of the courses you can take, pretty much expected it anyways...
Anyways, I'm going to have to breakdown to my dad about not going to the school he planned for me and stuff... Any pointers on how to?

Do it when there are either family around or when you both in a neutral good atomsphere

Well, in UofT, there's this Breadth Requirement thing which forces you to take subjects from half a dozen different fields during your first year.
So even if you enter a subject you don't really like, you can switch. (Or maybe that's just me since I've only just turned 17)

Actaully, right now my father is in the ship (His a sailor) and he's coming back in January. Right now, we are in a state of crisis, divorce is like a thing happening around me right now, and my household is going crazy. Nothing official yet, but I hope it doesn't happen. My dad wants the separation, but my mom really does not want to.

About that, you might want to try going into Multimedia like I did on my first semester. While it's not computer science you learn various thing related to video game and well...multimedia. I do not know of the english college (or cegep you call them what you like haha) but I know of about 2 french college offering the classes.
About your father, I don't know how you'd have to tell him, but in my opinion you should be able to choose for yourself, what you want to do in life. Not being forced by someone.

The class seems interesting, but I really suck at drawing and arts in general. I wanna try a go at developing software or see things I am capable of doing.
