Keep 2H, or make Gladius Ego?

If you only care about damage, get a bastard sword ego. There are dark blue bastard swords around, although rare.
180 max + 150 max(elsinore) = effectively 330 max damage, a 100 difference from a maxed 2h. With this you have more flexibility in your usage as well, although you'll probably just dual wield 24/7 anyway, knowing your playstyle.
More realistically, 180 max + 100 max(broad/battle) will yield you 280 max, effectively, a difference of 50 from a maxed 2h.

The downside is, yes, you do have to maintain another weapon. The upside is you have a higher damage rate, and badass final hit capability. And you at least have the option of a shield, for charging capability.

Very few downsides, imo.

I actually did consider this (albeit using a Gladius instead of a Bastard Sword, since I really liked the blue one).

Bastard Sword only gets 19 Crit (around 31 average Crit if paired with a Goddess Caliburn), while a DSKS ego gets 36.
On Windmill, a Bastard Sword will have 125 more damage than a DSKS. Howver, on Smash, a DSKS will have several hundred more damage (calculated to ~300 with my current set).
Repair-wise, in addition to maintaining an off-hand weapon, 1Hs have less dur and thus need more often repairs.

I switched to a Male DSKS earlier this weekend. While it does require more work, most people would end up trying to max Str/Will/Luck anyways, so I figured I'd go for the extra 18 Crit over the 2H (Crit was the main flaw I didn't like). Even being extremely damage oriented, my Claymore still fares well compared to Dual Broads, and I actually use it more.

Elsinore Sword isn't very realistic unless you're the top dog of your server, or a real NX whore. Of which I'm neither.

Shouldn't you add +5% critical to the DSKS (and other type hander types)? The only time critical rate on weapon is relevant is doing smash. The base 36% critical really only applies if you are like doing counter attack, which most people don't use as a main attack.

It shouldn't be hard to get 30% critical with a 0% critical weapon for WM. So, the critical rate on weapon for WM is mostly irrelevant.

Like you said crit is only important for smash and thats where two handed swords shine, so the crit on a two handed sword is very important.

If I wasn't so broke, I'd have switched me 2H ego for a DSKS and bought a bank tab full of repair DSKS's during this event. The reason I went 2H over DSKS was the ease of repair, and I think Justified did if for the same reason, but that has changed now.

Fishing event is putting them out like crazy. You can probably get away with buying DSKS for less than 50k each from players trying to get rid of them. If you have been fishing for awhile, you probably already gotten quite a few.

While you can always find the 2hander swords from shops, 2hander ego still lacks critical rate. If you buy tons of very cheap DSKS now, and fill up mules with them, it will last you a very long time.

No, but people who are fishing are swimming in DSKS right now. I've got about 5 myself.

Yes but when the fishing event ends they will still be hard to obtain. Unless they're still easy to obtain after the event ends...

I know that's why I said it's not as easy to repair as 2h but others disagreed with me so.

Just stuff 30+ of them onto an alt account and you'll never need to use NX repair potions. I don't plan on ever buying any.

Unless you totally neglect Will (which would be dumb since DSKS needs Will to be strong), you should get around 60-70 repair points per sword. I only used 30 dur on my 2H in 4 months, so I figure that a dozen swords could last at least 1-2 years.

They're going for <50k on Ruairi. Doesn't even cost much to hoard them.

30 points in four months?

I've successfully repaired over 200 durability with my spirit crossbow. Perhaps i'm just lucky. Either way, I plan on using a repair protection potion on it.

If you want to use the DSKS, this is the time.

I don't know. Hopefully you can apply the repair protection potion to spirit weapons. If not, i'll just wait for the spirit blessing potions to come out in NA.
