  Only 3 days had passed since the whole thing happened. Unless some really, really terrible hazing went down, I don't see how suicide was even anywhere near a reasonable option. What he did was basically quit without trying. Going by Chiri's link, he actually was seeking help, but didn't even bother to let it play out.
  
  I don't even see what the problem is. Getting recorded isn't that big of a deal, I'd be pissed off at the guy recording me but it wouldn't be life-shattering. I'm still curious about how he was treated afterwards, because the article doesn't imply that people ridiculed him.
