Tons of questions.
I'm seriously less interested in melee at this point. The only thing I lack to "complete" melee and range are arrow revolver and final hit - both of which are R4.
For melee, the thing is that I use two-handed swords like dustin sword so I rarely see the need to use final hit.
For range, arrow revolver disrupts party play, and crash shot or magnum are now the most practical skills of the range branch. Also, the whole bunch of life skills is not something I want to continue going into for a very long time. To me, it's not worth the trouble.
Some things to note:
1. I prefer party play over solo play. I can handle solo play but it is very tedious for me due to latency.
2. I have latency problems. 300-600ms gameplay at peak hours. Therefore, I am seeking to maximise survival rate, do more smashes and use less windmill. I do my best to get hit less but it's not possible to completely avoid it.
3. Skill CP issues means I can only rank the following to certain ranks: Shock - R5, Frozen Blast - R3, Heat Buster - R5.
4. I'm interested in earth alchemy mastery for the sake of summon golem/barrier spikes so I need to stock up 125AP in anticipation for G13. The rest can be done later.
5. I'm aiming for royal alchemist for at least once. It doesn't matter whether I get to keep the position or not, just once will do. I score very high on achievement points but the skills are what I suspect is pulling my rank down.
I intend to get all the alchemy skills eventually but if I decide to go into alchemy path I want to know what I should rank for the most benefit I can provide to participation in a party. I am troubled because there are so many alchemy skills and not enough AP to go around.
For Water Cannon and Flame Burst, I find that they don't do enough damage and the tower cylinder is extremely difficult to use, especially for flame burst. So it is very difficult for me to decide if I want to continue ranking them or not.
Current alchemy skills:
- Alchemy Mastery 1
- Summon Golem 1
- Barrier Spikes 1
- Synthesis 9
- Water Cannon 9
- Flame Burst 9
- Spark B
- Wind Blast D
- Life Drain E
- Fragmentation F
- Mana Crystallisation F
- Rain Casting F
- Metal Conversion F
- Heat Buster F
- Chain Cylinder F

If you're looking to maximize survival rate, you should look into ranking Mana Shield. Quite an AP dip, but it helps. Since you're not a Giant, it'd be hard to use a two-handed sword and expect to survive a lot on a high-point build. Thus, you'll have to make a choice of either staying with two-handed swords, or start getting used to shield play.
As for your Alchemy skills, if you don't prefer Water Cannon/Flame Burst, then I recommend Life Drain. It does good single-target dmg while recovering your HP.

life drain would be a good choice, as well as mana shield if not already maxed. else frozen blast and spark are pretty good for party play. water cannon is also good in place with heavy pd (like peaca).

I'm not so keen in mana shield though...and I don't use it much.
I think I can do something about duplicating life drain crystals with the arat crystals I have stocked up.

Update on alchemy skills:
- Alchemy Mastery 1
- Summon Golem 1
- Barrier Spikes 1
- Synthesis 9
- Water Cannon 9
- Flame Burst 9
- Life Drain 9
- Frozen Blast 9
- Metal Conversion A (to be Rank 9 when I get that extra 1 AP)
- Spark B
- Wind Blast D
- Fragmentation F
- Mana Crystallisation F
- Rain Casting F
- Heat Buster F
- Chain Cylinder F
I'll be rebirthing again this coming Saturday since I have too many RB cards to get rid of before school begins again and life gets hectic such that I can only handle free rebirth. I'll probably see about 68-80 AP to play around with. What should I give focus on?
I know life drain is nice but I only have about 24 stacks (total 240) crystals in stock...and I have burnt my whole arat crystal supply for this. Is this enough for R1?
The other thing I can consider doing is to continue on skills like synthesis, metal conversion and fragmentation since I have a lot more time on my hands for this week and next. Just that I'm not too certain if they are useful at all. These are the life skills of alchemy and require a lot of time to train up.

yes. as long as you focus on maximizing skill gain with each crystal used, that will be enough to get to r1 from r9.

with 300-600 ms you shouldent use any type of distance attack.

Plan A
Life drain: R6 - 57 AP
Chain cylinder: RC - 18 AP
Plan B
Sand burst: R9 - 28 AP
Chain Cylinder: RA - 30 AP
Fragmentation: RB - 19 AP
Plan C
Life drain: R6 - 57 AP
Synthesis R6 - 15 AP and about a few million gold depleted just because of this.
Plan D
Frozen blast: R6 - 76 AP
Help me decide what to do next? =/
Now IDK...I'm in love with frozen blast and I like collecting snowballs. The trouble is that this is extremely situational, yet it does seem helpful with bosses like the giant lizard...

Well, I am not sure how often you use Fragmentation, but I don't see much particular use for it. I believe I used around 24-30 stacks to get from r5->r1 life drain. (I forgot exact amount)
If you do life drain, might as well aim for the r1. It greatly boost your success rate for crystals (and draining/knockback damage).
If you are in love with Frozen Blast and love collecting snowballs, do Frozen Blast. If you are in a party, you can use it as excuse to stay a little further from the monster while you run around freezing stuff.

About R5-R1, did you maximise the amount of exp possible using -CP equips or did you use regular dungeoning to train it up?
I think I'll do frozen blast first and look into how I can get the other 25 stacks for life drain.

If you have some time to afk fishing overnight, you can get mystic pearls to make lifedrain crystals with.

These are the numbers I figured up for each rank of life drain while adjusting your CP to maximize kills. R2-5 may be higher than they need to be as I missed a "free requirement" on one or more of those calculations. (i'm copy/pasting my calculations rather than recalculating them)
crystals used to train LD:
r9 29
r8 15
r7 24
r6 20
r5 29
r4 35
r3 27
r2 58

So around 25-28 stacks estimate.
I'll do frozen blast first before I do something about life drain.
-
Omegatronic wrote on 2010-10-05 18:24
Well, those numbers come to 237, and it should be a few less than that. Of course, you may want to have a some extra in case you make a mistake.

I used -CP equipments, and went to zombies to maximize the prof I get per crystal. (Like always drain in deadly)
It doesn't have to be zombies, but anything that give you easy boss kills (and some awful kills) is good.
