  I think he wishes that we all could understand his language or his viewpoints...or he just wanted everyone to think the same as him, I shall not delve any further on this subject. I am smarter than others who would love to instigate this thread into a serious flaming thread, of which I do not want.

  I'm sorry, but those kind of things should have been expected since this is a korean news. You can't understand another culture's news article without understanding its culture (well unless it is clear, for example, "the president has been shot").
  
  I'm going to say this while it is clear in my head: If it is wrong to judge a gay person (it is a sub-culture) without understanding homosexuality, then why is it not wrong to judge a korean person without understanding their culture? Can't you guys not stick your nose into this matter? Just like how any other people would react if their culture is judged unfairly, I am offended by this thread and I raged at other people going "off-topic" (as in continuing to judge people unfairly)

  I understand what you're trying to do, but you are doing it the wrong way. Calling everyone that posted in a negative manner towards the old woman based on what they're used to while growing up in America ignorant and immature, and then publicly demanding that the thread that you didn't create be locked isn't the way to do it. Sure, it may be your national pride getting in the way of thinking of how other's that don't know the culture will act, but you should take the time to take a breather, compose yourself, and then defend the old woman, educating us on what the girl did wrong calmly. Also, as people pointed out, albeit cold and rudely, using Korean to explain something when the people you're trying to teach don't know what you're saying. It would have been fine if you told us what each phrase's English equivalent was so we know what the girl did wrong. Other wise, no offense, it looks like lines and circles and means nothing to us. Example being one is "Whoops, sorry" like you would to a friend, and "I deeply appologize" like you would to a boss.

So what if he wrote in Korean. honeymuffin and bebepaneles do it all the time, and you do see anyone else giving a damn that they are. YoungChock speaks in French all the time, and not everyone can speak French. Chiri and others talk in Japanese, do you see everyone telling them to stop acting like weeaboos and move to Japan to find out that it's not like an anime? No, so there's no reason as to why you should be giving abc that level of disrespect.

I know this has a lot of potential to be lulz worthy, but for the sake of putting an end to any more fighting, please try to be mature and keep the smartass comments like "I bet she smelled like cat urine" and other things of that nature out of the thread. I can only see this thread is going to get locked, and people getting 2 day bans for disrespect and flaming if it continues.

  I'm not saying that everyone should be isolationist, the nature of this article require an understanding of korean culture if it is to be taken seriously.
  
  What you guys were doing was same thing as george bush invading Iraq thinking his action is the best. What you think is right may or may not be so in Korea (ya the internationalizing made korea more like every other country, but some areas are different and that is why we don't have a world government ruling everything).

  If not, I call for it to be a rule. Not everyone can speak the language and what if someone comes along and does not like seeing such languages and be at a loss to understand it...?

  Then I suggest you educate people on it, being as brief as possible but still conveying the meaning from Korean while using English, so we can understand. You wouldn't go into a place in real life, make some cryptic comments, then call everyone stupid or ignorant for not understanding what you mean. I think everyone knows how annoying it is when others can't clearly understand what he or she is saying, but think about how we're feeling right now when you're saying all of this. We're not disrespecting you, we're just ignorant.
  
  Being Asian, I understand what you mean. I used to have to bow to my Grandfather, and whenever I eat out with my relatives, the oldest person gets the food first. Most Asians don't like causing a scene, but I guess this is one cranky old woman. It's pretty much a catch-22, because filial piety is very steeped in Asian culture. I highly doubt the woman would change her ways even if jailed because these kinds of things have been beaten into kids (literally) since an early age, but whether to punish her is up to Korean law enforcers to decide.

  Also, as has been stated, before the thread would be considered for deletion we'd need to give people a shot to understand. It seemed like you were going to do that in your first post but didn't have the time.
  
  Basically, to translate this into American terms, the girl got mud on the woman and then apologized with something akin to 'sorry [insert swear of your choice here]'. The old woman is rightfully insulted then takes it too far by getting physical. At least, that's the best I can make of it based on the information available.
