Honestly, I've found 99% of MMORPGs to be a spin-off of WoW, Ultima Online, or DDO. Oh there's one you probably havn't tried, DDO. :D (Google it.)

DDO, yeah, it plays like a P2P MMORPG since it switched to F2P, so it's really good. Brings back all the roleplaying memories.

My only real experience with MMO's outside of Mabinogi is Runescape and I certainly won't recommend that to you. The skill system and content were awesome but the gameplay was just awful. Awful, awful.
Is Mabinogi not an option? It's one of the only MMO's that's not a ripoff of WoW and (IMO) is the only MMO that takes any skill.

Tales of pirates was a little bit too clunky for me, so I dont know if You'll like it yourself.
If your going to play DDO play on the Kyber or Orion servers. (where I have characters.)
