After a long 2 month hunt with super unlucky shadow missions, I finally got shock.
Pg1- traded defensive oak tree round pauldron (that I bought for 2 m) for it
Pg2- Ran around 50 hardmode enemy behinds with no luck. I finally traded a bonita silky dress, holiday bracelet, and panda paws all white full dura for it :T_T:
Pg 3- found after doing ghost of partholon 8 times
Pg 4 - found after running crag cow adv 12 times
Pg 5 - failed ghost of patholon int solos about 20 times, ghost of parth adv 5 times, ghost of parth hm 5 times before buying it for 500 k
Pg 6 - found it in housing for 200 k shortly after getting page 5
Pg 7 - Ran shadow wiz int/adv approx 15 times. No luck. At the end, Prostreet70 donates me a page for free :XD:
Pg 8 - found after 1 run of ghost of partholon right after getting pg 7
Pg 9 - ran their method 20 times without luck but then an ad "S>shock 90 50 k" comes up
Pg 10 - failed offering adv 32 times, shadow wiz adv another 10 times. Buys for 2 mil from Rexyaris.
Grand cost?
4.75 mil + panda paws (which came almost free from a good trade), bonita silky dress (bought for 1.5 m), holiday bracelet (bought for 300 k a year ago) = 6.55 mil
R7 so far, it fails. 20 second shock is wayyyy to short. Hopefully 30 seconds are r1 will make it useful

Rank 1 Shock is hax, I have rank 5 shock now and I can tell it's very useful.

Is it that much of a boost from r6 to r5 shock? My r7 shock with r1 alchemy mastery can only kill int monsters with one crystal.

I would say yes, I think so, more damages and it goes from 20 secs into 25 secs duration.
And rank 1 Shock is almost spammble.

I wouldn't have done the page 2 trade, but oh well.

Looking back, I find that it's only worth that much money for the amount of waiting, haggling, trouble and time you go through to collect the page.
I spent way lots more than what the page goes for right now, but in exchange I get back my time to do other stuff like earn it all back.

Yea, it was a lot but I needed it bad. Didn't want to waste more time agonizing over the page like Ryudo did for 300 runs.

I have friends who have grinded over 200 runs of Enemy Behind, and over 100 runs of Offering just to get their pages. Some of them that grind this hard still don't even have Shock, after almost two months.
Mari has terrible luck, I say.
Although, those people did get to like level 120+

Really? I must have gotten lucky then.
I only ran 86 provocation, 74 enemy behind, 52 ghost of the partholon, 121 offering, and like 12? shadow wizard advance to get my shock pages within 2 weeks.

The usefulness depends on your race and your combat style. Shock's primary purpose isn't damage. Shock should be used to stun large groups of monsters or bosses with advanced heavy stander.
It's lethal coupled with golem windmill, windmill, crash shot and final magnum. Final Hit would probably do the skill justice. Shock also gives you enough enough to cast intermediate/advanced magic.
As a general rule of thumb, r9, r5 and r1 are all good places to leave a skill.

After a while, I came to the conclusion:
Rank F~Rank A - useful, but that's it, short time and low damage
Rank 9~Rank 6 - starting to serve its primary purpose
Rank 5~Rank 2 - becomes powerful, both in damage and time
Rank 1 - Overpowered and nice damage.

Ity only costs so much due to epeen issues, otherwise its rather lame :/ even as a dedicated alchmist i have no intrest in it for the ap investment 300ap into golem and i get 5k crtismashs, 300 ap into shock and well yeah lol shock should have been a 150 skill

Shock's effect last
20seconds from R9 to R6
25seconds from R5 to R2
and at R1 it lasts 30seconds not to mention its range also increases tramendously.
I personally love casting Shock on my golem especially in dungeons where the enemies don't have anywhere to run.
