Don't do it. It sound easy, but it's a lot harder than you think. Any college counselor will tell you it's a bad idea. One semester or year off turns into two, into three, four, five - you never end up doing it. It's just how it is.
I went to a tech prep school for media in HS... they had ties with the community college there; that's where I ended up going. I also got a full scholarship from the tech prep school as well (for 2 years). That's something I'd definitely look into.

It's generally known that people who take a gap year will have more chance of failing when they start college then a person who goes straight from high school into college.
PROTIP: Don't do it, eventhough it might sound like a cool idea in your head.

It's very hard to "save up" money working in jobs that would be available to you now. However, summer jobs or even part time while in college can be extremely beneficial.
"Everything you do will always take up all of your time." It's a lot easier to start doing both school and part time work, and dropping work if it's too much, than to start a part time job after settling into just school.
