Tip about deterioration

If you don't know, every equip has deterioration points. The point value on this will go up every time you enter a dungeon. It goes up regardless if you got hit during that dungeon and of course, more if you did.

Basically, the higher that number is, the quicker that equip will break when you're hit. So if you wear a set of equips for long enough, that set will eventually become utterly useless and probably break in one boss hit every time.

So you might say, well that's dumb and yes, yes it is. But, theres a pretty simple solution to this

Go to Ferghus and go to Enhancement

Everytime an equip is enhanced, it resets the deterioration points back to 0. Just like new. No need to recraft or rebuy that item or have to deal with it breaking every time a kobold shoots a arrow at you.

As long as you dont +5 your equips right away you can use your set for a very long time. Just +1 them every now and then whenever you feel like your equips are too weak. Essentially you have 5 resets.

However, I'm not sure what happens when you try to enhance and it fails. If that resets the deterioration as well then that wouldn't be too bad

If you fail, you don't restore Deterioration.
However, if you re-enhance it back up, it'll restore the Deterioration again.

Personally, I don't care about deterioration, I'm using a 2059 point glove and it's fine.

Nothing I've read says that Deterioration affects how easy something breaks.

I've heard only Condition affects that. (I may be wrong.)

Deterioration only affects the gold it takes to restore it to max condition.
Condition is what affects how quickly the piece of armor breaks.

Yeah, I think everything has a base of 115 or something, and it drops depending on if he fails or not.

I think everything has a base 100, and your masteries increase the max.

And now that you say it, it seems ferghus can lower max dura. So we actually have same ol' ferghus. But it isn't as bad as in mabi at least XD

I just realize that condition points does not go down while doing Perilous Ruins dungeons even if your armor breaks in a boss fight. o.O

so i guess condition points goes down only for token based dungeons and after fixing it at fergus the deterioration goes up.

Only Ferghus can make deterioration go up, even when it doesn't even need to be restored.

ok i think there are some inaccuracies in what your saying, because Deterioration does not go up every time you go in a dungeon....it goes up when you repair your armor, the amount you repaired is then added to the deterioration total. Condition goes down when you go into a dungeon, if you get hit or not, but it does go down a lot more if you get hit. Along with that fact that you might now wanna use the conditional voice in this sort of guide format. you should know exactly what your talking about and make no assumptions

You should read the thread before you post something that's already been said. The OP admitted their mistake.

Anyway, I've never paid attention to either of these things. I should probably start, though.
