If he was really so needy for that thing that he'd ram his girlfriend off the road for a game-console, he needed to have it taken away in the first place. His priorities were already askew.
I'm pretty sure if she wasn't thinking about leaving him, she is now, and if she's not, I'm a liiiiiittle worried.

Well the news did say it was an attempt. She wasn't doing it to punish him or out of spite. She was doing it to try and save their relationship.
I see nothing wrong with what she did. If he was a normal human being, he could just go to her workplace and quietly ask for it back or something. If my mom took away something precious to me to work one day, I wouldn't just go and ram her car like some crazy drug-addict...
