I really don't know what's better.
While Twin Spears does TONS of damage if you use Fury Invasion + 3960 Hurricanes, the swords tend to have more attack power. Plus, swords let you slip dash which is invaluable.
Any ideas?(I personally use spears)

From my experience, spears require a lot of skill investment before they become good. Your dodge is still a good attack cancel, and is now an attack, but it takes a huge chunk of your stamina, so you'd better have high rank Combat Respiration.
If you have also pumped up smash mastery and crit mastery, your damage will be through the roof.
I think the same caveats for spears go for fiona hammers. If you can afford to be less maneuverable, the damage tradeoff is well worth it.
However, on certain bosses, it may prove more valuable to be able to dodge.

I switched to spears at level 30, and I'm having more fun and doing more damage. I die more with swords anyway. :x
If you use 3960 Hurricane right, you can damage the enemy a lot and not get hit. Plus you still have that one dodge, which is nice if you run into trouble.
Just my two cents~

tbh, atm, using spears is MUCH easier than swords.
Where slip dash is capped right now, the invincibility is still kind of unreliable, so really, they're both on even footing in terms of dodging. Yes, you might slip dash through an attack occasionally, and if you're good you can just slip dash through anything with the cap. Really though, I haven't seen anyone real proficient with slip dash on vind so far.
After knowing the pattern and when to stop/get out of the way, a spear user has a much easier time of doing consistent damage than a sword user, all while just holding down a button. The only thing you really have to pay attention to is your stam.
It seems sword users atm have to work harder to achieve the same damage (well more attentive button clicking), which is noticing when the crits proc for furious glider. Dunno about the damage using thousand needles; haven't even seen anyone using it with a high rank.
All-in-all though, since the bosses so far still don't really do enough damage to make you worry about not getting hit, going spears is probably the way to go for now. Perhaps this will change later (hero mode?).
