Ok, so today I decided to get off my lazy ass and prof my own swords. So I made a mule just now, got my things that I needed to prof, and went on my mule. I did all the quests up to the Malcolm Ring, got bunch of passes and went into the dungeon.
Once I got into the boss room, I attacked the spider. But I noticed something, I was hitting more than 1, and I didn't counter the spider yet. Even with bare hands, I was hitting 4 and 5's
So is it just me or did they patch the spider in G12? :S Anyone having this problem?

You can try -damage equipment (other than on weapons that you are proffing) and see if it reduces damage in that way.
But if this is fixed, that explains why people are using sheep pot + barriers in Provocation mission instead as a popular proffing spot.

I had the EXACT same issue Thursday. I really do hope this is just a glitch. Otherwise, I better stock up on some white spider enchants for one of my other mules...enough to lower at least 100 damage -_-.

Ruh roh. That was my favorite spot for proffing weapons. Maybe the Wisp method is better now.
