Patches - Mabinogi World Wiki
The int formula is revised.
* Players will now receive +1% damage to all magic type attacks for every 20 int.
Defense is split into Physical and Magical defense.
* Players will now receive +1 Magical Defense for every 20 int.
I just saw this and thought wouldn't it be a disadvantage to Giants? defense wise (cause I moved onto giant now)
and can someone explain how magic defense works compared to regular defense etc

I guess now normal defense won't do anything to negate magic damage and only magic defense will. Magic defense is solely based on int.

It's right there in your copy/paste pretty much. Magic defense reduces magic damage (basically, anything that would make mana deflector go off AFAIK). "Normal" defense reduces physical/ranged damage. Prot reduces both.

Magic Defense reduces magic dmg, while Magic Attack increases your magic dmg by %.
Wizard type monsters that have high INT are harder to kill while warrior types that have high protection(but low INT) are easier to kill.
EDIT : forgot to mention your INT is capped at 999, so your max Magic attack/defense is 49/49
In G13 there will be new upgrades and enchants that directly increases your Magic Attack/Defense.

Why will we need magic defense?
New missions need them?

I'm guessing because they're removing all current defense against magic and replacing it with this new one.

That's pretty neat. It somewhat encourages party-play/hybridization.
Mage: "Damnit! Those shadow wizards are deflecting my spells! I'll go for the bulky mobs, you take down those shadow wizards!"
Archer: "Oscar Mike!"

Can you like write an entire story? L>Story by Kaeporo
Well all I can say that this will suck...well for me atleast. Me and my 0 int will go great with this new formula, but atleast int won't be entire useless when I get an int roll.

Now Alchemy can find a way through this.
*sees a warrior type mob* WC, Flame Burst, Heat Buster go!
*sees a mage type mob* Shatter them Golem!
Though really, just build up protection if you feel comfortable to guard from both attacks.

Fix'd.

Sense. This makes none.
Why do we take extra damage for more int?
