Genre: Action, Seinen
Quote from ANN:
In a world after death, angels fight for their fate and their future. Yuri, the leader of the Shinda Sekai Sensen, rebels against the god who destined her to have an unreasonable life. On the other hand, Tenshi, the chairperson of the student council for the world after death, battles against the SSS members. SSS members utilize armed weaponry to battle it out against the angels harnessing supernatural powers.
Quote from Wikipedia:
Angel Beats! takes place in the afterlife, and follows the main protagonist Otonashi, a boy who lost his memories of his life after dying. He is enrolled into the afterlife school, which exists as a middle ground between heaven and earth, where students learn to give up any lingering attachments they still have from life before finally going to heaven. While the injuries or cause of death is gone, those in the afterlife school still can feel pain or other things as they did when they were alive. Otonashi meets a girl named Yuri who invites him to join the SSS—Shinda Sekai Sensen (æ»ã‚“ã 世界戦線?, lit. Afterlife War Front)—an organization she leads which fights against God. The student council at the school, led by the student council president and angel Tenshi, is in charge of keeping the status quo and serve to fight against the SSS.

Anime is a great "IN YOUR FACE" to Kyoani, they degenerated, Key saw this and decided to move on, and it's all right with the world.
There's some bashing going around on the internets from, surprise, KyoAni fans, but most are baseless rants.
Anyways, good show, the script has promise (Tearjerker for sure) and the animation is superb. P.A. works Is sure taking this opportunity to get better known in the industry going all out with scenes like the concert from episode 1 and the opening animation.
Let's see how this turns out, Aleni forgot to link tthe OP (not included in EP1) So here it is, enjoy! :)

It's that one anime where the quality is bad and is almost exactly as Haruhi.
Lol.

:!!: Bite your tongue! The quality's great, and the story has nothing to do with Time-Travelling (<-Are there supposed to be two Ls in there?), ESPers or Aliens! Yuri might have some.. similarities to Haruhi. Sortakinda similar appearance, and is a leader, but that's all.

Eh, I honestly had to watch them both side by side to notice the similarities. Tards can be very creepy.
And yeah, you can see some "bossy" fits here and there from Yuri, but nothing so far that makes me want to yell "*****, back off" as with Haruhi.

From the internet
1. They both explain in such a way you don't understand at first.
2. They both lead a certain organization/club
3. They both have hair accessories (hairbands)
4. They both have VERY SIMILAR character designs
5. They both are very "persuasive"
6. They both burst out and say "Baka" in a similar way
6. Both are tsundere? types
7. Both have weird opening statements (aliens/battlefield)
8. Both have a "Kyon" character?

From the internet
1. They both explain in such a way you don't understand at first. (False)
2. They both lead a certain organization/club (Picky otaku is picky)
3. They both have hair accessories (hairbands) (Oh geez, the similarities)
4. They both have VERY SIMILAR character designs (Not really)
5. They both are very "persuasive" (There's a difference, one's a "screw your opinion, you're coming with me" while the other is "Sure, take your time")
6. They both burst out and say "Baka" in a similar way (Eh...)
6. Both are tsundere? types (Eh... people like to throw around that word so much now everyone's a tsundere, but sure)
7. Both have weird opening statements (aliens/battlefield) (...)
8. Both have a "Kyon" character? (Not really, Otonashi doesn't have Kyon's cynism)
Otaku are being picky on this show wich isn't fair, people brainwashed by 5th rate sites will read this crap and miss out a nice show.

Angel Beats! is pretty good from what I've seen so far. I like it, regardless of others' opinions.

Personally, this is on my top 3 of this seasons new anime, does not include animes that are on going from previous seasons.
I'm not too sure why so much people dislike it. The Haruhi thing? All that really looks physically the same is the ribbon and the school uniform.
Anyways, it's a Key anime, that's more than a good enough reason. Knowing Key animes,... well you should know if you watch any.
