Enjoying evie so far =D
yea it really is just depending if it suits your playing style..
I for one really enjoyed teaming up with a team of fiona and lanns, healing them and spamming fireballs and magic arrows when I can..
I rarely do melee just cuz I feel like that beats the purpose of being a mage >_> but stamina uses up pretty fast so gotta compromise at times XD
This hoard of Evies will probably soon fade as some realizes it's not their style. Which would restore some balance to the teams..
Full team of clone looking evies spaming fireball at boss is amusing at first, but soon gets boring and dull.
Yea Soloing reaper might be hard, just cuz he is so fast. Gnoll Chieftan was easy as long as you know how to read it's movements.
And the heal is what I love the most :3 too bad I haven't have much chance yet to put it to good use.

The only problems/quirks I've got with Evy is the kick animation which constantly haves me jump away from the enemy. I don't remember if Fiona kicks does that but maybe I've gotten too used to fighting beside the enemy most of the time as Fiona.
Although Firebolt and MAgic bolt are great skills, as well as the eagle talon, I still miss being an obsessed neck grabber and throwing kobolds down cliffs a la "300".

The shield is great but without any mastery at the moment, it won't be able to keep up. I cried to myself when that Merciless Polar Bear wrecked that Evie in that cornor...

I didn't like Lann until spears, so I think I probably won't like Evy until Scythe. Only character I liked from the beginning was Fiona, but I started to get bored later on xD

Evie's amazing~
Even though she lacks melee strength, her combos are really fast and you can use Space to backstep out of harm's way.
And firebolt has super armor.
The only things I don't like are the lack of grabs and that you have to stand still to backstep.

Evie looks incredibly boring to me so I probably won't even try her out :x

Evie, to me, seems like she can do anything, its just her cooldowns and her frailness prevents her from being in the midst of battle.

I felt like I had a much easier time with gnoll chieftain with evie. The dodges take no stamina =D

Evie is no Fiona.
Thank you for this astute observation. I wasn't sure at first, and it confused me when I jumped back like a little girl instead of planting myself on the ground with a powerful shield. Then I got even more confused when I tried to repair my armor and this weird fireomg thing zoom killed everything on my screen. And it was pissing me off how I kept trying to use my dashing smash but just ended up glowing.

Evie (staff) advantage:
Her melee costs no stamina. In fact, you RESTORE stamina WHILE you melee. I'd say this is pretty huge.
Her melee has a very wide range. When fighting scrubs, this really comes in handy since they get hit stunned by just about any attack.
Mana Shield makes her practically invincible for simple dungeons. And it recovers really fast.
She can instantly regenerate her stamina.
She can heal in two different ways.
Her Fireball is OP like mad, cool-down is the only thing balancing it.
Her Magic Arrow is also OP as long as you have the stamina for it. Mass spammable, most enemies don't stand a chance.
Backstep dodge is actually very nifty. Possibly faster than Fiona's roll dodge.
Evie (staff) disadvantage:
Her melee damage is poor.
Cloth armor, will get real troublesome late game when things can actually start eating at your mana shield.
Side step dodging is terrible. And backstep doesn't cover enough distance sometimes.
Her spells require a quick slot, leaving you with little room for items.
No Grappling moves (which tends to come in handy time to time).
Kick type move is the same as a 1Smash animation, which is slow as hell.
To be honest, all the disadvantages don't matter until around boat 3+, which is why she feels very OP right now. Especially in Perilous Ruins, she's more or less invincible.

I melee more fiercely with my evie than my fionna. And I haven't lost any HP yet.
When we get scythe she's gonna be even stronger with the way I play her.

I like her because she can tank better and with my lag that's huge.

Do you know how unfair Evie is?
I've solo'd up till boat 3 on hard.
I didn't lose a single point of HP, I didn't use any items at all.
If this doesn't screams OP, I don't know what does. Even as a Fiona, I'm still required to use stuffs like repair kits and etc. for my shield, bar the rare potion or two to prevent my character from dying because of my mistakes (i.e. Mis-shields, I'm just too used to the Monster Hunter style of shielding and being able to change your shield direction and/ or move with the shield on and continue to shield till I actually run out of stamina).
All in all, it was so boring, I decided to take a break and get me some Halloween TF2 hats.

While it was easy not to lose hp, I really felt like I was doing next to no damage...It's also going to be a lot harder when bosses are more mobile like the vampires.
