How come we hear about conservative extremists very often, but we never seem to hear about liberal extremists?
Is it because since US had such a bad experience with liberal extremists (communists) that if any political organization come out to be liberal extremist one, will it be bashed so much that words can't describe the result?
Or is it because US had a traditional conservative sense of white power, etc?

That because the media can't seem to find ones that are news worthy.

Because Liberals in American media have peaceful protests and release captive animals.
Conservative movements aim to stop new views.
Extremists use destruction and smear campaigns to destroy these new things.
E.g. Bombing an abortion clinic, curb stomping a Muslim, setting a Mosque on fire.
Liberals cannot destroy any of these things and even destruction itself is looked down upon among Liberals.
A liberal cannot bomb people who do not support abortion, cannot curb stomp the KKK to support tolerance and nonviolence, cannot set Churches on fire to promote religious tolerance.

It's because a lot of mainstream media have a liberal bias and love to hate on conservatives every chance they get, no matter now inaccurate. They also hold double standards; when a conservative does something damning, they get harassed big time by liberals, but when a fellow liberal does the same thing, they get a pass.

Oh wow, I just wrote the longest essay in which I mentioned all of the flaws of extreme conservatives and compared them to the silliest things.
Darn internet.
But I'll say this.
It's never good to be so extreme in life. Everything in moderation.
Extreme conservative people are too judgmental. Whether it's anti-immigration, ethnocentrism, homophobia, racism, you name it. You have to be willing to give people a chance before you denounce all of them for being different.
I am glad I am open-minded. I welcome things with at least a neutral stance before judging it. If I don't like something, I'll decide that after I see it for myself.
Saying things like gays rape children or that they sexually abuse children is bullcrap. It makes me wonder if that person has ever met a gay person or has ever given that gay person a chance before spreading false rumors like that?
I give chances to people, to all kinds of people. If I were anti-immigrant or racist, I wouldn't have enjoyed the company of those two Mexicans I met last week in a deli. We talked for hours about random crap and it was good conversation.
If I believed that Mexicans all did drugs and stole, I probably would've been fearful of these two people. I would have resented them. But instead, I had good conversation, good company. All possible because I wasn't judgmental, I wasn't closed-minded.
I don't pile up everyone in groups and assume everyone's the same. That's wrong.
And that's something conservatives tend to do. Republicans too. They assume that poor people are poor because they don't work hard enough. When that poor third-class American is already working hard enough to sustain him/herself and his/her family.
You gotta have a little compassion for people sometimes. For different people.
I used to hate tomatoes before I actually gave them a chance. Now I love them.
Open mind.

We never hear about liberal terrorists because their attacks have not yet been targeted against people in the US.
Quote from Intex;198073:

Do you really think that liberal extremists are always peaceful protests and releasing captive, AKA stealing, animals? No arson? No vandalism? No beatings?
Really? ALF, ELF, SHAC? Any of those ring a bell? Maybe a search on Eco-terrorism?

They are called extremists for a reason. So its unavoidable to have someone who gets so fired up that violence occurs.
From what I can see though, conservative extremists are far more active than liberal ones. Overall the idea behind liberal seems to lean more towards a less noisy one, so they tend to be voiced less often. Additionally it seems to be a key concept of liberals to accept a broad variety of things, many of which can be different from every day experiences. But to be honest when you get a liberal talking they go on and on and on and its soooooo annnooyyinnnnggggg.
HHnnnnngh. Reminds me of being back in high school where all the girls thought they were so sophisticated because they could talk about something liberal for 6 hours straight.
I won't get into any of the popular debates between the two groups. My stance on immigration is obviously biased as I am an immigrant myself and it feels like people think its their God given right to be born on America and they are somehow better so shutting off the boarders to their great nation was the right thing to do when they were all immigrants in the past themselves oh god I said I wouldn't get into it but I'm rambling.

At the moment, it's more culturally acceptable to be a liberal than a conservative. As such, there are probably more conservative extremists being rubbed the wrong way than liberal extremists. A couple centuries ago it was basically the exact opposite.
There's a lot more to it than that, but I think the other replies addressed things pretty well.
