I'm prepared to take on the journey to rank 1 Alchemy Mastery (currently halfway through rank 9!) and I was reading the wiki. It said that we must make at least 1190 rank 2, 3, or 4 crystals through mana crystallization in order to be able to advance to rank 1. I then read the Mana Crystallization page of the wiki and became confused about something.

How much does the rank of the advanced magic affect the rank of the crystal? Would I be able to make high-numbered crystals with only rank E thunder or rank F ice spear? If not, how high should the rank be in order to make rank 4 crystals and below? I'm rather unwilling to rank one advanced magic to a high rank even though it may be helpful in the long run simply because I don't use advanced magic often and I would rather spend my AP on other things at the moment.

The wiki also says this: "Crystals created through entrusting are influenced by the Alchemy Mastery and magic spell ranks of the player who cast the spell." But does it solely rely on the caster of the magic for entrusting? If not, how high should my ranks be too?

Yet another question is that the wiki says the wand used affects the quality of the crystal. My thunder wand is currently upgraded for time reduction and mana use reduction (as well as damage reduction). Would that be better to use than a clean wand or not?

If it helps, here are my observations from my experience in mana crystallization for now:

Thunder rank: E.
Mana crystallization rank: F.

Most crystals made are rank C and then rank D. Rank E crystals are rarely made. All are 1 charge.

The only question I can answer is that of wands. You want +damage wands for mana crystalization, be it through upgrades or enchants. A good way to start for Thunder is to get a Victorious Lightning Wand from Cor Exploration books. Easy +6 damage. Even with rF Thunder, I frequently make rC crystals at rC Mana Crystalization. With a clean wand I make E, usually, and with a -damage I make F.

Your third question: if you're using Thunder to train Mana Crystallization by yourself, get a Victorious one and add either Will o' Wisp or Wild Boar to increase the quality a bit more. If you can, upgrade it for MP reduction.

I don't have an advance magic, so had to depend on other people to do cast for me when I wanted to rank my AM to r1. To my knowledge, the formula for determining the final rank for a crystal is unknown, and after I got my r1 AM and r1 Mana Crystalization (MaCr), I stopped trying to figure it out. But, I will share what little information I know, which isn't much but may help.

The caster's spell damage (wiki what goes into this) is modified by the caster's Alchemy Mastery and then the crystal maker's MaCr damage modifier. This number is compared to a reference number for the damage for each rank. I hadn't figured out what these reference numbers were by the time I moved on to something else.

I was told that an entrusted r1 IS with a max damage wand can make r4 crystals with only a rF MaCr. But when I was doing AM, my caster only had r2 IS, (I'm not sure I had the max damage wand at the time) I had to rank my MaCr to r8 or so before I could make a r4 crystal.

Tested fact: rF MaCr with a caster (approx 250 int) that has r1 ice spear and rN alchemy mastery using an upgraded for max damage ice crown wand makes a max r5 crystal (there are a range of ranks with r5 being the highest) on a non-Saturday. This may reach the treasured r4 on Saturday, but I never got around to testing it.

So, if you have a caster with r1 IS with a max damage wand, even if he doesn't have Alchemy Mastery, you shouldn't be required to rank your MaCr much higher than rF to make the crystals any day of the week, and maybe be able to get the r4 on Saturdays. Though, with the low success rate of rF and the fact you do not always make the rank of crystal you need, I would suggest ranking MaCr some just to keep from annoying the caster (and yourself) too much. I mean seriously 1190 r2-4 crystals is a lot.

If you are determined to do it all yourself, you won't have a choice but to rank your adv magic and MaCr fairly high. I recommend getting ice spear as the max damage wand makes a huge difference and can be enchanted for further damage.

Well I know my guildie used to get me to do thunder for him, he was ranking alchemy mastery as well, and was a high rank. He always gave me a very good upgraded lightning wand and I am still rank F and he always got training and asked me to help him often, so it is possible with a low rank.

Mana reduction and speed increase upgrade for the wands, as far as I know. makes worse qualities of the wands than regular wands.

Get a upgraded wand that have damage % increases, even if the speed casting is slow. it helps a lot with quality of the rank for crystals.

Thanks for the help guys! I don't mind ranking mana crystallization a bit, but I just didn't want to rank my thunder since it's so AP-consuming. As for the second question, I wasn't too sure because when I was synthing a couple things, I saw someone with master of mana crystallization telling someone else that your ranks matter more than those of the person who is casting the spell (if you entrust), so I got confused about that. I'll just abuse my guild leader's rank 1 advanced magic skills when I get up there in Alchemy Mastery. I'll try to get the +damage wand as well.

well here comes some one with r1 in so such skills. basically 300+ int with base wands and a r1 magic can cause r6-r2 with damage boosts r1 is achievable, ice spear is the best to have the chance, also the music effect roar of the battlefield and the master of magic title take effect as well. also always have some one else cast for you otherwise you WILL get lower ranks. also form what i notice ints effect seems to cap out around 450ish
