Okay, one aspect that you should know about this game is the "Enchant" system. Once you've started exploring the world, you'll come across these "Enchant Scrolls".
What are Enchant Scrolls?
They give status boosts / penalties to equipments.
Where to get Enchant Scrolls
They are dropped by monsters or for the most part, obtained from treasures boxes in dungeons. Another method is called "extraction", which I will explain in more details below.
Types of Enchant Scrolls
There are two types: Prefix Scrolls and Suffix Scrolls. For each equipment, you can have one of each type of enchantment.
For example, I have the prefix scroll "Sharp" and suffix scroll "Wise". I want to enchant my short sword weapon. After you've successfully enchanted the weapon, the "Short Sword" turns into "Sharp Short Sword of Wisdom". The Short Sword gains the attributes from both scrolls on top of the base stats. +2 Critical from Sharp, and +3 Int from Wise (and -10 Str if lightning bolt rank is C or higher, penalty).
Properties of Enchant Scrolls
1. Enchant Scrolls in this game have a "Time Limit". The higher the rank the more time you have. At rank F it's 5hr23m, rank A has 8hr23m, rank 6 has 10hr47m, and rank 1 has 13hr47m. An "expired" scroll is not usable.
2. Enchant Scrolls come in different ranks. For rank F to A, you can enchant them directly onto the equipment. For rank 9 to 1, you'll need an existing enchantment to add the new one on to. For example, you have a rank 9 scroll that you wish to enchant your sword with, you can't just enchant it onto a new sword. You will have to prepare a sword that's already enchanted by a rank A scroll to overwrite it with. Otherwise, you'll get an error message saying "No compatible target equipment found". For scrolls with rank 5 and higher (1 being highest), you will need an enchanter with skills higher than 6 to perform the action. Otherwise you'll get a message saying "Skill level is too low to perform this action".
3. You can only overwrite scrolls of the same type. Suffixes with suffixes, prefixes with prefixes.
4. Enchant Scrolls have "life" bars. A new scroll comes at 100% health. Once you've successfully enchanted an equipment, the scroll is used up and disappears. If you have failed on the enchanting process, the scroll will "lose health", and damage the equipment that you're trying to enchant! The % health lost on the scroll and the amount of damage done to the equipment depends on the ranking of your "enchant" skill. The higher rank your enchant is, the less health a scroll loses and the less damage it does, and your rate of success will increase. Once a scroll reaches 0% health, it is no longer usable and should be NPCed (for a few golds..)
5. The higher rank the scroll is, the lower chance you can successfully enchant it.
6. Some scrolls can only be used on specific equipments. Some can only be used on clothings, some can only be used on armors, some only weapons, etc. The scroll description will tell you the restrictions.
How to enchant
1. You will first have to learn the "enchant" skill. The skill is learned automatically once you've equipped a magic powder (can be found in dungeon treasure boxes). It will only be "practice" ranking, and you'll need an actual scroll to use the skill.
2. Equip a magic powder on one hand, and the enchant scroll on another hand.
3. Use the "enchant" skill, and select an equipment in your inventory that you wish to enchant.
4. You will see a window displaying the success %, which asks you to click "OK" to proceed or "cancel" the process.
5. One magic powder will be consumed per attempt. If you've failed, you will need another magic powder to try again (assuming that there's still some health left to the scroll).
Alternatively, you can enchant without having the skill. This could be done by anyone by right clicking the enchant scroll and select "use". However, with this method the scroll will disappear completely if you've failed. You also don't get the success bonus boost from your int, and the success rate is really low, I think 50% or so. It will still damage your equipment too if failed.
Results
There are 4 different results you could get from enchanting.
1. Big Success - Usually yields a better stat if the scroll has a range, but not always. Doesn't occur often.
2. Success - As it says. Usually yield the lower spectrum of the range.
3. Fail - Scroll looses health, and damages is done to the equipment.
4. Fatal Failure - Scroll looses health, and *usually* LOTS of damage is done to the equipment, but not always. Doesn't occur often, but surprisingly you'll remember it to be very often because we all know how much it hurts when you lose half of your weapon's durability due to this tragedy...
*You will see more of the effects of big and fatal results when you are using higher rank scrolls. They also occur more often with higher ranking scrolls.
*When you fail a lv6 and higher ranking scroll, the target equipment is DESTROYED! This means it DISAPPEARS from your inventory; you don't get a 0/0 equipment.
Extraction
As I mentioned above, there's a process called "extraction". Extraction is the process where you extract a scroll (or 2 if there are two) from an existing equipment. Here are the steps:
1. You will need a fire, set it up using your life skill with chopped woods.
2. You will need a holy water and an equipment that's already enchanted.
3. You will drag the enchanted equipment and drop it on top of the fire; an icon will appear and as you let it go you will get a confirmation window "Proceed with extraction?" "Yes, No".
4. Select yes, and the equipment will be burnt along with the holy water. If succeeded, you will yield one of the following:
a) just a magic powder
b) just one scroll
c) a magic powder and a scroll (if the original equipment only had one, you'll get that scroll with 8hrs; if the original equipment had 2, you'll get a random one from the 2)
d) 2 scrolls (if there were 2 on the burnt equipment and you got lucky)
e) a magic powder and 2 scrolls (if there were 2 to begin with)
A few things to keep in mind for extraction:
* The equipment is gone, you've burnt it.
* Max success rate of extraction is 75%. Success is defined with results b~e as listed above. a is considered a failure, as no scrolls are extracted.
* Max success rate is determined by your ranking of "enchant". 75% is with rank 1; at rank F it's only 25%. As your rank up, the % goes up. 33% at rank A and 50% at rank 6. It's after rank 5 that you start to get a huge boost.
* To extract scrolls of rank 5 or higher from an equipment, you'll need an enchanter with the skill "enchant" of 5th rank or higher.
Misc
* Your Int stat raises the rate of success. Hence magic users are also good enchanters (in general). Enchant also give int boost when you rank up.
* Maximum % of success is 90%. Maximum int boost is at int 200. When you have over 200 int, you don't get extra boost.
* On enchant days (Thursdays), you get a % boost from the game. 5% for the lower ranks. (Don't remember about higher ranks, I think 2% or something).
* To rank up, you will need to practice the skill by enchanting repeatedly. Some ranks have almost impossible requirements such as "Fatal Failing for 400 times" or "Big Success 2000 times". It's extremely tedious to rank up.
* Thursdays are the best days to enchant since you get the extra % boost from the game. Also a good day to sell the scrolls (and powders)
* There are different grades of powders that give you a small % boost, but won't be available until later generations.
* Best way to get started with enchanting is to loop the first dungeon, Arubi dungeon. You will always get either a powder or scroll from the treasure box at the end.
* In later generations, you can hire an enchanter to enchant for you by using a different type of magic powder, and a trade window will be available for you to pay for the service. Before the game had this function, too many people were abusing the system and ran away with equipments, scrolls, and powders. If the hiring system is not available, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you only let people you trust to enchant for you, otherwise you risk the chance of your rares being scammed. Otherwise, this is actually a good profession to make money. I remember some people charging quite a high fee for their services when I first started playing, as there's a high demand for them until you reach rank 8 where the training requires you to pull off 8000 successes and you'll actually have to beg people to let you enchant things... and pay them instead... (Would someone like to be my personal enchanter? ;P)
I think I covered most of it. Post any questions you have or if you've spotted confusing parts of this guide. Feel free to edit it into wiki format. For a list of different enchant scrolls, you could visit wikis for the other versions of this game but I highly recommend gathering information from our client as they might be different and many won't be released initially.
