On the topic; how useful is this skill. Is it somthing only should be used with Chain Cylinder?
Is it better or worse then watercannon?
Also; Should i be using a Fire Cylinder if i was gonna do Flame Burst alot?

With good fire enchants, it does some quite good damage, though the range isn't exactly commendable.
It shouldn't be used as a main attack skill imo.

For your Cylinder question, I wouldn't recommend dropping your current Cylinder for just a Fire Cylinder.
Unless you use Heat Buster alongside Flame Burst a lot.

I use it as a main attack, and it works out very well. You have to get good at catching multiple enemies in it, which isn't too hard if they're melee. It's possible to use it well without chain cylinder, but CC makes a huge difference in it's dps.
It basically requires rank 1 and a fire cylinder though.

Despite Flame Burst's downsides such as low range and that astral body glitch, it can be a great skill. I'm not talking about first-hand experience, but I did receive help from a Royal Alchemist who's Flame Burst was Rank 1. She was dishing out dmg in the ~200 range and that's when her critical hit didn't go off. Mind you, this dmg was being dealt on multiple monsters at a time and this was before Chain Cylinder came out so I'm pretty sure her Flame Burst is just a beast now; more so than it was when I saw it.

Flame burst looks like a good skill; however comparing their load times at r1 respectivly; i know water cannon can be spammed; but flame burst looks a bit risky; even if its .25 more.

As a user of rank 1 Flame Burst, 1.75 seconds is good enough to slip a charge or 2 in depending on how far you're from the monster. If not, Wind Blast away after the last hit and charge. Flame Burst is a good skill, it's just too dependent on charges, since it does like 2s with 1 charge. x.x Anything that boosts is damage(Fire Cylinder, Damage and Critical Enchants, Alch Mastery, Chain Cylinder) are all very helpful to get rid of that 2 hit damage. Only use it on 1 target if all the formors are too dispersed for you to attack 2 if you've got 5 charges. Mindlessly choosing a single target instead of pairs is wasteful.

Say, if you have r1 Flame Burst, r1 Water Cannon and r1 AM, i don't think flame burst dmg is any lower , if not better even at 1 charge comparison. Not to say it crit regularly since it ignore protection to calculate crit(crit r1 will allow it to deal some nice dmg even at 1 charge ex : have seen it deal on monster like gorgon HM with 40+ dmg per second with just one charge and that thing has mana deflector lv 2 too.). And yea just as mentioned, if you take it on more than one monsters, the total dmg even higher. Pretty much it down side, is its low range to me. Except that, it is spamable with little lag, and pretty much force any enemies/group to stop on their track for some nasty 5 seconds no matter what PD they have, unless adv.heavy stander.
Edit : yea forgot, another disadvantage is, it can't be used through barrier spike without killing them off.
