A British man has been banned from driving - after he was caught in a Barbie car that travels at 6.4 km/h, media reports say.
Paul Hutton, 40, was helping his son modify the pink and white electric toy and downing a few drinks at the same time, when he decided to take it out for a spin.
But his joy ride did not last very long when police pulled him over outside his Essex house and found he was two times over the drinking limit, The Daily Telegraph in London reported.
"The police car came up alongside me and the officer said, 'Are you all right there, mate?' A lot of burble came out," the Daily Express reported Mr Hutton as saying.
"There was a dispute between the officers on the phone as to the legalities. I really didn't realise I shouldn't be doing it. I knew it was daft, but I didn't realise it was a criminal thing to do."
Mr Hutton also joked about being found by officers squashed in the car with his chin touching his knees.
"You have to be a contortionist to get in, and then you can't get out," he told reporters.
"I was very surprised to get done for drink-driving but I was a twit to say the least."
Mr Hutton, a father of four and a former military aeronautical engineer, is studying electrical engineering and was helping his son with a car mechanics course.
"It is designed for three-to-five-year-olds," he told the Telegraph.
"Originally it was a pink Barbie car but I put bigger wheels on it but it's not fast.
"I'm not unhappy with my punishment, just a little bit surprised."
Magistrates slapped Mr Hutton with a fine, a 12-month conditional discharge and a three-year driving ban, as he had already been banned once for drunk driving in the past decade.
The chairman of the magistrates' bench said this case was the "most unusual" he had seen in his 15 years on the job.
"The vehicle is not even capable of doing the speed of a mobility scooter and could be outrun by a pedestrian," Mr Neil Munson said.
"Taking this into account, we feel we can impose a sentence of a conditional discharge for a period of 12 months."
Mr Hutton hopes police will return the toy to him after it was confiscated by officers.

It's like that time, a kid brought a gun to school
Just that it's 5CM across. And it's a toy for a lego man.

What.
"Oh hey, a father was driving a BARBIE car that could be easily OUTRUN next to his DRIVEWAY. He was a bit drunk. He didn't even get close to harming anyone.
Well, lets give him a 12-month conditional discharge and a three-year driving ban."

...
Why does he even still have a license? I thought drunk driving was more or less a zero-tolerance policy.

You obviously din't watch "the horribly slow murderer with the extremely inefficient weapon" yet.
The father... He could have been the GINOSAJI!!
