For hosting games?
Say for 4 player rooms and 6 player rooms.
I'll be upgrading to 1Mbit upload later today, and I'm hoping it's enough.

It all depends on the distance of the people connecting to you. How good/bad is it when you host rooms now?

I can host polar bear rooms fine right now with 0.5 MBit (better than most people). But it could be better.

Your upload speed can't help you when Nexon servers went to crap.

My groups even get lag at random and it's because Nexon's servers.
There was this pic on Nexon's forums that explained it, but I've been unable to find it since. So, I've taken the liberty of recreating it:

I usually have no problems hosting bear runs. Only complaints of lag when I am downloading torrents at same time, haha.

Open Resource Monitor (start-> type in resource monitor if using win 7). Click on network.
You will be quite surprised at how much (or relatively little in this case) bandwidth you actually need to host or play multiplayer games if you didn't know before.

I always check with my party on the boat, and have them test the lag. Before and after missions, I ask.
On my shet computer, they only say it lags when there is a lot of action going on.
On my brother's awesome computer, they say "it's as good as if they were hosting it themselves."
Edit: Then again, I am really close to Nexon HQ. Maybe that has an effect.

^How many bars do people get in a bear run?
If latency somehow depends on both promity to Nexon and promity to players, that's just cruel and basically screwed over everyone in the east coast and doesn't explain why I am 100% lag free when playing by myself.
Anyone have any ideas on which ISP I could go with that would give me a high upload? Like 5Mbit or so. In Toronto that is..
Edit: Yea, pretty much 0ms ping in a boat by myself. Tested against that quacky thing. If latency depended on proximity to Nexon, then I, the host in this case should be lagging ever so slightly. But I don't.

Lemme see if I can get on now...
