I've been experiencing some problems with the Mabinogi Video Recorder. All my recorded videos play back in horrible quality, making it almost uninterpretable (similar to a video cassette tape that has been scratched up). I've already tried reinstalling Mabinogi, opening the .avi videos with different video players, and toggling random settings in-game.
What can I do to fix this? :c

o.0 maybe you chose the low quality instead of the high quality one
either that or you have other stuff running on your computer and giving lag to mabi

I never had this problem in the past. o.o
Yeah, I already tried to toggle HQ and low quality.. I get the same results.

TOKI! Hai :P
About recorder have you checked to see if the graphics had anything to do with the quality of the vid?

Hey~! (:
I'm not sure about my graphics.. Quality in-game is great as far as I can tell. And only videos after March are affected. :c

Have you installed/uninstalled any video codecs or video players since this started?
-
Kyouria wrote on 2010-04-26 22:25
None that i can recall.. Because I hardly ever use video players (other than Windows Media Player occasionally).
Are there any specific video codecs I need to get this to work? How do I find out? :X

Stuff always looks crappy in windows movie maker...... ._.

There shouldn't be, nexon should be providing that with the client when you install. The problem would be if you installed any kind of codec that might somehow interfere, but looks like you didn't. Don't know much about the recorder so that was my only guess Dx

Can you post an example of each video (one that rendered in good quality, and one that you claim is bad)? Also, is there any file size difference between the two types (good and bad)? Is the frame size different?

Example of quality it had been:

Taken today:

I'm so confused @.@ That same video with the sprite does not look that good when I play it in Windows Media Player (the colors go crazy, movement is chunky, etc). I can't edit any of the videos using video editing software.. but I don't know why it looks much clearer in the YT-uploaded video (directly from Mabi). So its my video-player's problem?
EDIT: But even so, I don't know why my previous videos work perfectly fine in WMP, but the newer ones don't.

*not familiar how the recorder works*
If it uploads directly to youtube, is there still a file on your hard drive you can go and watch? Or is it only a temporary file, uploaded then discarded?
If youtube sees it fine, yet the file you have on your computer does not play properly, it's definitely sounding like a codec issue.

I'd agree with Osayidan. I'm not too familiar with the recorder either, but if the settings changed in how it records, that might be why. I don't know if that means it's something you changed on your end, or on Mabinogi's end. It sounds to me like it's something with the actual file that's different. Possibly codec, like mentioned before.
It will look fine on Youtube because Youtube converts all uploaded files to its own version of the flash format... regardless of what codec/container/file type it is on your computer, it will be converted when it gets to Youtube.
Until we find the solution to the actual problem, I would suggest uploading to Youtube as you did and then just downloading it back from Youtube. :P Crude, but I've actually done it before when I had compatibility issues.
A few other questions to clarify - is there a noticeable file size difference from the old videos to the new ones? Are they all still .avi file? Have you tried VLC Media Player?

The video recorder in Mabinogi saves whatever you recorded and puts it in a file called "Video" in your mabinogi folder. From there you can either put that into a movie editing program or go back in game choose the video using the recorder and upload directly to youtube. Saves as a .avi I think....

The videos still appear in
My Documents>Mabinogi>Video folder when I upload directly into Youtube.
Yeah ;__; They're still .avi file. But you can tell the difference between the ones that work and the ones that don't because when you view the files in
Thumbnails, they look different.
Video A (first image, or the one on the left) works
Video B (second image, or the one on the right) doesn't work

I've already tried reinstalling Windows Media Player and Mabinogi. I'll try downloading VLC Media Player and see if the videos work with that. :> If not, I'll have to use MrShandavio suggested method with Capture>YT>Download @.@
Thank you guys so much for helping :thumb: +Rep
