The fastest and most effective way to defeat Kobold Chief would be to just hut glitch him, but that's pretty cheap...
If you position yourself correctly you can even get the break off using hut glitch...
Steparu's videos of White Tyrant solo and Red Tyrant solo are pretty useful.

How to not die against White Tyrant. For All Classes!
10 Things you should know!
1. Keep a good distance in front of him.
2. If he hugs the floor he will leap forward quickly dodge left.
3. If he smashes the floor with one hand he will slash with a claw. Depending on your position it usually best to dodge right, if you are close. If you are medium range, it's best to walk or run or dash backwards.
4. When the White Tyrant is low HP he will get up on his two feet and do a Warcry.
5. When the White Tyrant Warcry's he will either spin around three times or continue doing the normal attacks.
6. When the White Tyrant Warcry's it's best to run behind him and do damage but not to close that you will get cleaved by his triple spin.
7. It is a good idea to always stay on his right side, as for your character you would want to lean left more.
8. When you attack from the sides, there is a high chance he will do a rotating cleave.
9. Try not to attack him much on the side when you are solo'ing, this will usually leave you into pieces.
10. Play defensive at first to learn his attacks and how many hits you can land in between his attacks, then you can play more aggressive.

They still haven't fixed that glitch? D: I don't like abuse of the glitches, I agree though.. it is the fastest way.
There's another person who also posted up a Red Tyrant video on the official forums. xD Heretic deals with the vids, so I'll let him decide which ones to post. I'm too lazy and picky about my videos to waste tokens on the White Tyrant runs right now. Red Tyrant scares me, he manages to invisible squash me and my firebolts tend to miss even if they're right in his face.
I have also noticed.. a tendency to get hit more while I've got the video on. T_T; Seriously, it's like there's invisible eyes watching and you start going, "I must concentrate!" instead of relaxing and just doing what I normally do. x_x; So.. xD SORRY about getting hit on the videos! <3 At least you know you can survive a hit or two.

I must admit, I found this guide very entertaining to read. It was if Brynn himself was telling me all I needed to know. Should have added a scolding in there or two for good measure.
I must ask~ is there any information from you researched individuals on the future of staff and why we should continue on this path? As makers of this guide, I would love for your personal consensus on why being a staff user is recommended and what the future holds for wielders of this chosen weapon.
As it is, there seems to be almost no reason not to go with Scythe as a funner method of gameplay, as more and more clues are showing staff to be slow and underpowered. I want to be a believer of staff, as my Evie is still young and quite conflicted. I need a rock to hold onto to make the decision to remain a true mage worth the effort. In the fact of spells and techniques like Blink and Finger Snap~ it's just hard to really not waver and play the style that seems to just be more developed than Staff.
I hear Icebolt isn't even in the game yet, if it's even being worked on. Also, Mana Pistol for all its talk, isn't in the game in the Korean version either. This makes me wonder if Staff is going to be relegated to Magic Arrow spam for over 60 levels of gameplay.

I haven't actually played Mabinogi Heroes, so i can't really say what the future holds for staff. Honestly, it's all down to preference. If you ask me, I'd say staff might be the less AP intensive path since you don't have to split your damage between magical and physical. While Scythe can be strong towards the end, I feel like it's not as powerful as one could expect in the early stages. There is a lot of talk of Scythe being ultra powerful and whatnot, but from what I've experienced so far, it's not really the case. Both the Staff and the Scythe are similar in their damage output. Very terrible sustained damage with big bursts every once in a while.
I find that Stamina can be an issue for both classes, but the Staffie can mitigate it somewhat since she can use Stamina Recovery every once in a while, and her melee attacks take no stamina whatsoever. Scythies, however, need to watch their stamina very closely. And often, I feel as if they need to stay at at least 50% of their stamina in case they need to make an escape with blink, since its stamina cost is extremely high even WITH rA blink.
And looking at the sneak peak for Episode 7, it seems that Staffies will be getting some love, with the addition of Swallow Tail, which will make her more maneuverable. It lets her use a smash attack while she's in the middle of her hop to propel her in a desired direction, as well as damage any enemies near the launching point. But as far as I can tell, Scythe will probably likely be much more powerful, damage-wise, than Staff. Perhaps with the addition of Golem, the Staffie will be able to solo more easily.

Mana Pistol is actually an Alchemy skill (according to the Wiki, anyways) so it'll be for both Scythe and Staff.
Research.. lol, you'll have to wait for an answer from Heretic. I went Staff because I enjoy it much more, I really dislike melee style hack/slash type characters. I think it's more of a, if you enjoy it? You might as well play it.
As for the Magic Arrow spam, you'll be doing Eagle Talon, Firebolt (and with this, Stamina Recovery) and Magic Arrow spam. With a side of Blind Arrow as well. So we've got the same amount of skills as a Scythe, it's just that our spells are burst. Staff Evies also get the Stamina Recovery, which can be upgraded so it takes less time to recast it, while Scythe Evies have to wait for their Stamina.
xD Again, I didn't do research into the "Why Scythe/Staff?". It just seems more people play Scythe because they like the style better, and it feels more powerful because it's hands on and you get your results right away.
Edit*
*flails* Heretic responded faster (I panicked and was like, ANSWER IT! XD) and.. I like his response better, but I'll still keep mine up. lol. He has played both while I played Scythe for about 5 minutes into a dungeon, made a face and went back to Staff useage.

umm you guys talking about getting savage eyes in the sweetie set part..
About the retreating for the polar bear to save coins.. isn't the tokens taken once you start attacking the boss?
At least that's what I heard from everyone on forums and such. or maybe is raid missions different?

Nope, it's not taken until you've killed it.
Don't try this for the Blood Prince or dungeons with
multiple bosses. Once you kill one of the bosses, your tokens are used up.

To elaborate more on the subject. Tokens are only removed if you defeat one of the Objective bosses. Examples of this would be, like PandaSong said, Blood Prince. Your objective in that battle is not only to defeat Blood Prince, but The Red Bearer, (The) Reaper, and The Blood Drinker as well. This is why defeating The Red Bearer and then disconnecting from Blood Prince will cause you to lose tokens. An example of a battle where you can kill a boss and still not lose tokens is Trampled Plains. The only one you really need to kill is Black Breeze. You can tell because if you defeat him and not the two werewolves, the battle is completed. So if you wanted, you could go into Trampled Plains, kill the two werewolves, and leave and no tokens will be removed.

Guys, I love this guide. Love, love this guide. The RP portion's well written, the translation is straightforward, and both have the same nice wealth of information and formatting. It helped me and my girlfriend shape up our Evies after we had a general idea of what to do. We just kept running into scythe scythe scythe scythe on every forum we could think of, with some staff threads being "underpowered just go scythe lol" which made us facepalm. I main a Fiona and she mains a Lann, so we use our Evies to help them a lot when we're not leveling either pair together, so... support yay, we have enough melee right now.
Thanks so much, we'll be watching this as the episodes roll in!

:) Awww, thank you! I'm glad people are finding it helpful. We weren't going to write anything at first, but then I decided that there most likely wouldn't be anyone to write a staff guide, since everyone loves the scythes so much. Happily, Heretic said yes to writing it up.

Yea =( there seems to be a lot of Staffy hate going around in most forums. Everyone's all zomg Scythe Evy bawbawbaw. I can kinda see why everyone prefers scythe, since I went the scythe route myself, but even so, they Staffy deserves attention. While she may not be superomg in your face damage, it's still a drastically different play style that people may prefer.

I kinda wish Heals didn't cost 45 stamina a cast... Even with rA Healing, it's still hard to save idiots from dying in Red Tyrant...

Thank you for such a wonderful guide. I have viewed ones on other sites and this FAR outstrips them all. I ended up raising my Evie based on what seemed inherently logical but now (finally) I shall go back and review what I have done.
