My Newest WIP

  This is my current work in progress. I did something completely different then what I usually do and so far I like it. So far I have put about 10 hours into it *been working on it nightly for about 2 hours, sometimes 4*
  
  It's something simple so I could work with colors and fades more. Hope you like it :thumb:

  And this is the current step it is in. Got down with the middle, the stem, and the leaf:

  Now I get to continue to blend the colors I picked between each other. I tried the pen tool on the petals, it is in a very light color. Don't know if I should change it. Pen tool is still the hardest tool, but with the tablet, it's a little bit easier.
  
  So tell me what you think. Criticism is highly accepted and I will try to add whatever you say to my work. :bye:

  It is the whole flower? My laptop doesn't work well with huge pictures, which is what it is in photoshop. . .like its set as a desktop background right now.

  And it's kinda 2D, especially with that texture. It's like you painted pieces of paper and collaged them.

  I think you shouldn't have hid the top of the stem behind the front petal. Seems to have less depth/realism. You could also not put the front petal directly in front so that it's straight. Same problem.

  the closest i can find. it has grooves, but the grooves radiate outward to the edge of the petal and are subtle, shallow grooves within flat portions. they don't do the weird loopback thing with little regard to actual texture or lighting, as seen in the OP.
  
  TL;DR: USE REFERENCES. they're not going to kill you.
