I'm currently on my 5th rebirth, but I'm only total level 172. My character is level 35 right now, and even if I got him to 50, he'd still be behind. I don't really know how far behind I am, but it's kinda... Disheartening to think that I am. I don't think my skills are too bad, but they still need some training.
I currently have:
r5 Windmill
r1 Refine
r8 Smash
r7 Critical Hit
rC Counter Attack
rC Defense
Those are just the... More important skills.
I've finished G2, I've gotten my Paladin Passive Defenses, I'm almost done with G9, etc. I've got decent Gladii and the rest of my equipment is just base stuff, no enchants yet.
I don't think I'm too behind in skills, but I still feel like I'm behind most people in terms of rebirths/levels. There's also the fact that I don't really know what to do. My skills need to be worked on, but I want to finish at least G10, but then I want to finish upgrading my Gladii and equipment, etc. I feel like there's so much to do, and I don't know what to do. It's all really confusing.
Help? :3

Dude, I've been playing since open beta and I feel like I'm behind.

Lol just keep pushing forward. If you have the money weekly rebirth you'll get a bunch of levels and skills ranked up pretty fast.

You are doing fine, the first time I rebirthed was level 28.
You just have to keep pushing, get that exploration level up for extra ap.

You really do feel behind when Combat Mastery is low ranked. Once you get that up high and you can start dishing out some awesome damage does it then become clear that you epic. Its good that you have r1 refine and I would fight through and continue to get that r1 wm.
Equipment wise I would get 230 Gladius' and put giant ES on them and everything else (2 accs, hat, shoes, gloves, clothes) and get like +40str and +40hp from it all. Its the perfect beginner set. You can spam Their Method for wm kills and whatnot for the Giant ES. From what I see you are not behind, its just the illusion you're given yourself that you are behind. You are ahead most people in mabi.

My character also goes back to open beta, so eh. But then again, I've been on and off for a lonnnggg time.
Thanks to everyone else for the info.
@Jando, I'll already 3/5 on my Gladii for the 255 path. Is that bad? I don't think I'll be able to find anymore Gladii like them, I bought them from Milfuelle a while back back.
Edit: I forgot to mention my combat mastery. It's at r8 right now.

I'm level 1.1k with ~70th percentile melee damage and I feel behind. O_o
um... level yourself? xD
Hint: Exploration is cheap AP.

Ya we all feel behind at times. I'm over 4k and feel behind. As far as leveling most people have trouble leveling for the first 200-400 levels. Then they get r1 skills (most of them) that help them level more. By the time you hit 2k getting to 50 in a couple hours isnt hard because you have the skills to do so. Just keep going and think about what skills you like that will help you get experience faster. Looks like your melee based. Try

I completely agree. I tried playing a brand new giant and it was very difficult because it wasn't developed as my main character. It didn't have the trained skills. It was limited to low level SM, and it was well equipped. The experience rate was horrible.
The beginning is going to be hard to grind those levels, especially if you're new. But I guarantee you that it will get easier. Don't feel overwhelmed and keep playing it because you like it.

Leveling is slow in the beginning. Namely because of low-ranked skills and being stuck with low EXP areas. AP gain does start to get faster the farther you go (but I guess that's to offset the high AP cost of higher rank skills).
Everybody has that feeling of being left behind, really. It's up to you whether you want to see the game and the players as competition, or whether you see the game as entertainment and that leveling is just so you can experience new stuff. For me, well... playing two different characters as once and ranking my 2nd character's skills without a worry to CP is enough to say it. =3

It's just an illusion created by people around you being a bit more powerful. Just keep levelling and rebirth whenever you can, if you think your behind I've been fishing for almost a week for rainbow trout and still only have 1 ^_^;.....

Bah. Your fine. Hell you should be able to solo all Uladh dungeons with the exception of peaca and probably some difficulty in Coill.
Really now it's how you play and not your skill ranks. Learn techniques while your low level and you'll notice that you will be able to do virtually anything when you've ranked your skills up. A perfect example is me running Fiodh with my girl and i didn't die yet she did a few times. She's total 600 and I'm total 300 now on this new main. I play no differently on this new main with a much lower total level than what i did with my previous main which i left at well over 1k total.
Your not behind, you'll always feel behind as long as you have goals to reach or someone to aspire to. But truth me told your only as strong as your personal experience. I've been playing for over 2 years and have played virtually nothing but "weak" characters and yet somehow I can run dungeons with my "pro" friends and i die less or the same amount as they do.
(Not trying to boast, i hate boasting. Just trying to up confidence.)
