In the case of a zombie apocalypse, a Pistol is something you want around. They're easily the most common firearm that's legal to find. You aren't going to magically find something as effective as a Machine Gun or Shotgun lying around in a city. Not to mention ammo is much more easy to scav.
have u even read the zombie survival guide
which the cat provides here
Max_Zombie.pdf
Their range is so limited that accuracy is null
hunting rifles are so much more better.

I don't see how a zombie apocalypse is relevant to the topic at hand, and why you have to base weapon efficiency on how good they will hold up in a zombie apocalypse. While yes, in the Zombie Survival Guide, pistols aren't as effective as hunting rifles, but here in the real world, pistols are the best in terms of use in which an average police officer or a robber can handle. Rifles aren't meant for short to medium range like most pistols are, they cumbersome, so you can't maneuver around as much, and if you do have it "holstered", then you're wasting time getting it ready, while that guy with the pistol has it drawn and is probably on his 5th shot by the time you're loading your first.
So unless you're a sniper, in which case you probably wouldn't be using a hunting rifle, you're probably going to want to carry a pistol around. As far as I know, living humans are much different than zombies, so using the "zombie apocalypse" reasoning for deciding whether a weapon is good or not is pretty moot.
