The story centers around a boy named Akihisa Yoshii also known as the idiot or the baka of the title. He attends an academy where they rigidly divide the student body based on the result of the tests taken. In this case, the A class is filled with students with high scores therefore, their class were filled with many prestigious items (air conditioners, fancy seats, huge spaces, etc.) while the state of the F class is the complete opposite of the A class, which leaves much to be desired.
This academy has something special, where all the students manage to summon a summoned being (ShÅkanjÅ«). These summoned beings are used for battles and war between each classes. Yet, their power is based on the students' scores or grades. Therefore, since the A class is filled with geniuses, therefore they all have strong summoned beings, which is the complete opposite of the F class.
On the day of the placement test, a smart girl named Mizuki Himeji had a fever and couldn't complete her test. As a result, she was pigeonholed into the F class together with Akihisa Yoshii. Akihisa, who pitied her, pitched an idea to his class to rule over the higher level classes by doing a summoned being wars for both Mizuki's sake and to get more and more prestigious items. Aside from Mizuki (who happens to be the ace of F class), there's also the class representative YÅ«ji Sakamoto, the bishÅnen Kino****a Hideyoshi, the perverted Tsuchiya Kouta, and the tomboyish Shimada Minami (whom Akihisa claims is his worst enemy). ~Wikipedia
The protagonist is a guy who is among the stupidest of the stupidest in the school. In this school your grades can, under the supervision of teachers, take a virtual form to do battle! However, if you leave an examination midway, you get zero marks. A bright and cute girl, Mizuki Himeji, had a high fever during her examination. Despite her potential to be the second highest scorer in the level, she obtained zero marks for having left due to her illness and is thus banished to the worst class, Class F.
Grades mean nearly everything. For Class A: They have a smart-looking teacher, a plasma TV as big as the entire wall as their blackboard, personal laptops, personal air-conditioners, refrigerators, adjustable seats and all kinds of different appliances.
As for Class F (the worst class): They have Japanese desks and seat paddings. Their blackboard is dirty and there's even no chalk!
The protagonist feels displeased at such an arrangement; he seeks help from his friends to try to make a change through invoking war! And they devise all kinds of plans to try to beat the famous Class A, scheming to get Class A's classroom and equipment if they win!! ~OneManga
Now, if you didn't take the time to read all of that, I don't blame you. The short version, this particular school on Earth is home to students that can summon monsters depending on how smart they are. A girl who was sick during the day of Entrance Exam taking was dumbed down to Class F (the lowest class) automatically due to school policies. In this Class F is the Protagonist Akihisa Yoshii; thus starting the story.
