I've been using my armor sets for what seems like forever, but they are breaking a lot more and it's getting really expensive to repair. Thinking of changing to something new.
Just thought I'd ask everyone - when do you normally consider too much Deterioration too much? For me, it's somewhere around the 1000 mark.
And is it just me, or armor seems to Deteriorate more when it's already at high Deterioration?

Deterioration does not have anything to do with how often the armor breaks.
Deterioration only increases the price it takes to repair the equipment.

When it says 1 million requires 1 million gold to repair?

Ruquion has the right of it if i may also add, think of it like this "condition" is how ur armor is at the moment if its in good shape or not. for example uve just ran a few dungeons so have beat up a few bosses but took a few hits etc etc therefore ur armor is beat up and so more likely to break faster, unless u restore it
deterioration is the overall "quality" of ur armor, meaning even tho u have had it fixed by ferghus before and its at its max condition its overall quality is less because of so much use, therefore it costs more to fix it
aslo if u want to avoid buying new armor wait till the deterioration is "high" and then enhance it to get rid of the deterioration points, this should give u 3 or 4 "armor resets" atleast

Enhancing also increases the max conditioning of your armors so it breaks less often and so does Armor proficiency skills.
And deterioration is too much when its cheaper to make another item than repairing it several times and you can no longer enhance it. I personally don't see a big problem with it, my BP helm is at 3k deterioration and it costs 4.5k to repair it from 0 conditioning. It is also +5, but I only need to repair it like once per 20 runs. I think my armors costs me like 20k total each time to repair. In 20 runs you should make about 200k from finishing the run alone. Depending on drops and where you are running you could get 250-400k on average for 20 runs. 20k in that regard is very low in my opinion. I think once it hits 5k deterioration, I'll probably just make a new one.

When an item has too much detoration is when the money you make off the dungeon is cut in half by repairs. I.E. You make 20k off a dungeon but it costs 10k to repair or in extreme cases... 100k off a run (Blood Prince, selling ores) and it costs 50k to repair.

You can reset the deterioration points on an item by enhancing it, failing also resets it.

I don't believe failing resets it, at least from what I remembered. Now failing and then successfully enhancing does.

That's right. Failing an enhancement doesn't reset your deterioration. But if you succeed after failing it will. I just did this last night with my weapon/shield.
