Quote from honeymuffin;21882:
Communism is not a dictatorship.
Dictatorship is a system govern by absolute authority and no power for civillians.
Communism is a system that everyone gets equal rights and payment(In some countries).
Democracy does not include capitalism. It is totally different things.
(Capitalism is an economic system in which property, business and industry are owned by private not by the state.)
Cold hard rule by one leader with a totalitarian regime over the country? That's communism for ya. It's called a dictatorship. Communism gives no power to any of the civilians, and the Communist leader controls everyone with an iron fist and manipulates their minds with propaganda.
Communism is a flawed and corrupted system of government. It never works out as the leader of the country soon becomes a dictator and rules over all of the people. There is never a peaceful Communist system where the government did not control the people. Your views of communism are flawed, get into reality. Look at Stalin, and look at Mao.
Democracy's economic policies include capitalism as it is a goal of democracy to provide and protect natural human rights. Capitalism requires the right to own private property, and Democracy protects that right.

Communism is a system where everyone would be doing the same thing, boring.

Uh, I'm really sorry to tell you people this but honeymuffin is 100% right in the definitions. It just so happens that all lolcommunist countries aren't really communist, they're just wannabes.
I can understand how people think Communism is a dictatorship, I mean, you look at China and you see a dictatorship, you turn to old Communist Russia and you see yet another dictatorship but understand that these countries were NEVER actually communist. They only proclaimed theirselves as communists. There has never been an actual communist country in the world, much less a socialist one.
And no, Communism doesn't mean everyone would be doing the same. It means that a doctor would get paid as much as a handyman.

Pssh, I don't think Honeymuffin is correct, because he implied that communism has been achieved, in some countries.
But Komeiji is definitely right on all their other points. I think people grow up under people with a strong conviction that Communism = bad, Capitalism = good, but then they don't research heavily into the definitions of either. It's easy to have misconceptions.

True communism does not, and probably will never exist in this world, as long as people want more money, power, etc.
True communism is basically impossible.
The idea of communism is good, as it encourages equality and such, but when you really get down to it, in the current world, the word is just used as cover up.

There really should have a real thread for this...
True communism = Smurfs.
