I am going to try to not come off as ranty with this, but I think people who play Fiona and Lann need to understand the limitations of an Evie healer. This is prompted by a jerk in a season of Macha Kobold Chief run I did, with 2 Evies, a Lann, and a Fiona. Both the fighter types were being quite reckless, with strategy amounting to 'get in front of boss and spam attack' sort of tactics, so needless to say, me and the other Evie ran out of healing runes about halfway through the fight. We won, barely, and everyone was even standing at the end, so I count that a victory. However, I get this comment over voicechat '****, we got 2 Evies who can't even heal, just great'.
Now I realise some people are just jerks and nothing can be done about that, but for the rest, let me clear up how Evie works.
First off, you only get to carry 6 (edit 8) healing runes per quickslot. Thats 24 (edit 32) healings. Most Evies, unless they know they are in a complete bonehead group, will only carry one slot worth, seeing as 2 are taken up by firebolt and magic arrow, and most would like to have armor repair/campfire, and a phoenix feather. Healing also costs gold, so every time those white dots come flying your way, thats your party member valuing your health over their own wallet. If your Evie(s) can't keep up with your healing needs, and your also out of potions, you should really consider adjusting your tactics in battle as opposed to blaming your healer for not keeping you going as you get hit by the boss over and over again. I watched a great vid on youtube of a scythe evie taking on Red Tyrant, and she maybe got hit three times total. Kobold Chief is a lot more predictable then that, and usually there is no time limit, so no need to try to tank it.
Anyways, play nice and love your healer. They will love you for it.

You can hold 8 per slot iirc, and there are 2 types of runes, amount to 64 pops of heal.

Ah your right, my res is high and sometimes its hard to see the numbers. And still, most will only carry 1 slot worth as you have to give up either another spell, phoenix, or armor repair for the other rune type. It only proves things more that if your burning through 32 healings your doing something wrong.

For party play, the Evy shouldn't be carrying a campfire. Most of the time the Fiona should have their campfire up to A, because they're the ones that benefit the most from the campfire buff (for counterattack). I tend to carry both runes because if someone gets hit and their HP goes down a lot, it's easier and faster to just use one normal rune instead of two cheap ones. Then again, I am a support Evy, so I like having two to pick from.
But yes. x_x If you're getting hit that much for Kobold Chief, there's something wrong. All it takes is two dodges back to deal with his "major" hit and one dodge back to deal with the rest. Or side dodges, whatever floats your boat. And understanding that we can't heal that fast, compared to other games, due to stamina issues (and sometimes lagging means you cast it, lose the rune and the stamina without actually healing).

Shirayuki is right about being allowed 8 runes.
One important missed point (edit: PandaSong beat me to it) is that it takes a lot of stamina per heal. About 3 or 4 heals depletes all my stamina. Staff Evie also regenerates stamina MUCH slower than all the other characters, including Scythe Evie. Unlike all the others, Staff Evie gets no bonus for being "out of combat."
Also, it *is* possible later on to create "lesser" runes for "free," but this still requires a large upfront investment (somewhere around 10k, if I remember right). Still, no one should expect endless heals from any Evies in their party. I may even drop healing runes altogether if/when Ice Bolt becomes available. I can carry my own HP potions too, you know. :tea:

They must have really sucked if you used up that many healing runes.

You should have responded "Wow we have a Lann and Fiona that can't stop getting hit or use a potion."
I never even expect a staff Evie to heal me, I'm usually really happy if they send a heal my way.
I'm guessing most people are just too cheap to use their own potions.

IMO, you should've just let them die and solo him. He's pretty easy considering how slow he is.

Sometimes I feel guilty that an Evie heals me, mostly because I failed to use Blink or lagged a bit or just got caught somewhere.

If an Evie heals me, I always say Thank you

This^
I never
expect an Evie to heal me at all. I always try to provide for myself in the form of potions or just plain avoiding damage... >.>
If a heal is sent my way, I'm appreciative at what I get. Relying on another character to keep you alive when you should be doing that yourself is a bit selfish. I've played my share of games with the holy trinity already, so I won't yell at anyone to heal me.

I'm a good Fiona, so I don't need many heals. If I do get them, I always appreciate it. I mean, you got what you got, so don't abuse it, right?

I always take potions so any Evies don't feel pressured to heal. It uses loads of their Stamina, disrupting the flow of combat.

I usually chug pots, and then the heal comes in half way through my chugging animation, but before I actually gain HP T_T It's nice if the Evy heals you, but you shouldn't ever need it =\

xD I'msorry, I blame the stamina! Or lag, sometimes I cast on you and it just doesn't go through.. D: So I have to wait for more stamina to cast it again.
And anyways, I don't expect thanks for healing. xD I mean, I like healing, it's why I chose Evy in the first place (besides her whole zomg, she can make things go boom! magic). It's nice that y'all do that, of course! As long as no one complains when the heals run out, or expects me to save their butt if I'm trying to save my own from boss aggro. The respect goes both ways too. <3 The Fiona's that spam Phoenix Feather to draw aggro, and the Lann's that get rid of the add ons.
