I was watching a show yesterday about animals attacks on innocent people and, of course, there was a shark attack. It was fatal, sadly, but it made me wonder.
How do you fight off a shark that's--let's say--bitten your leg and won't let go?
I wanna be prepared!

Survivalist say that you punch the shark around the eyes or gills, while you escape quickly. Since it's got your leg, it shouldn't be a problem hitting the eye area, even with you being thrashed about.
[s]Of course, you should have carried your can of Shark Repellent on your utility belt to prevent this from happening in the first place.[/s]

I heard that going for sensitive areas like the eyes or the nose would be the best.
It will back off.
Problem is, the others will come as soon as the blood gets out into the water. If you don't get out asap, you're gonna die.
Oh, sharks can sense electricity, which is actually something they use to make sure their target is not dangerous. Every living being produces a small amount of electricity. Its been proven that if you hold a battery, a shark will avoid touching you at all costs. However this isn't useful as batteries die very fast underwater.

You punch/stab the eyes. Duh. If you can't do that, then repeatedly punch the sensitive "nose" of the shark.
Although I probably know this because I live an hour away from the Outer Banks.

Ah, okay.
Also, let's say you have a knife (don't ask why).
Is it easy to stab a shark through its skin? Or is the skin too rough for that?

How would roughness affect it's ability to survive stabbings? Just stab it in the eye or gouge out its brain.

I think you could probably stab it, especially if your adrenaline is going from being half eaten. :o

I dunno. There was also a crocodile attack and the people had guns and knives, but I assume that trying to stab a crocodile is pretty futile, right?
I wonder if it's the same for a shark.
But yes, eyes work.

Crocodiles are different, they have
tough skin so it would be a bit harder :/
