I mainly use it in Gale range to clear room to set a barrier, or when a melee-rush enemy knocks me back.

I use it when I know I'm too close to an enemy that I won't be able to charge my Flamer in time. Other than that, it's staying at rank D(minimum needed for Flamer). It can also be loaded when you're knocked-down, giving you an advantage to use it when you get right back up, then have the opportunity to charge 1-2 stacks of WC or Flamer. People just overlook that, seriously.

It really is what it says, it's a defensive skill that's clearly not meant to be spammed (hence its 3 time use before cooldown). On my alt, I sometimes use it because it's faster than r5+ Water Cannon and can push the target back much farther than Water Cannon can, plus it's a knock down instead of a knock back. This extra distance and down time is perfect for loading Water Cannon/Fire Burst.
It's not as useful as other Alchemy skills, but it's definitely overlooked.
