I am trying to complete the bonus mission in friends; I have to get the spiked gnoll club from the big red gnoll. How do I get it from him? I've done the mission about fifteen times and he won't drop it. It's like it's super glued to his hand or something.

It's randomized chance, go into hardmode and maybe run it with a person with higher LUK since the normal mobs have a chance to drop it.

Well there's not a hard mode. There's normal, finish within 12 or 13 minutes, and finish without using potions. No increase in difficulty.

o.o Literally, click hardmode where it says difficulty in the mission select.

Those are Oaths, under those on the option menu there will be three selections Normal Hard and Hero. Choose hard and you'll get one extra boss core.

Okay. I'll give it a try.

Spiked Gnoll Club? Those go on the market for like 60 gold a piece.

But it won't count towards BP unless the OP actually gets it from the mission.

If I change the mode to hard or hero like you said Shirayuki and Finnea, doesn't that mean it will just be harder for me to get the club from him??

No, in Hard mode, monsters do a little more damage to you than compared to Normal, but they also appear to have a little less HP than Normal. So if you know how to fight a melee Gnoll boss, then you shouldn't have a problem, and kill him a little faster, plus that extra core gives you another chance to get the item.

I usually attack his arm hoping he'll drop it. I've tried to get it 16 times......

The club isn't a breakoff item. It's just a random drop that happens after you kill him, or the Veteran Gnolls for that matter. You probably just need to get luckier in real life if you ran the battle 16 times and haven't had it drop yet.

^ I think you have the wrong idea.
It's not the one he's holding. You just need a regular club to come out of one of his evil cores.
It doesn't even have to be from him, any of the veteran gnolls can drop a club from their cores and it will still satisfy the bonus.

So you're saying I should just keep beating the crap out of the gnolls until it posts up in the end that I have the club? Is that all I can do? There has to be a way around it. I play with three other people each time. One guy tried ten times and still didn't get it. My boyfriend has played the mission less than ten times and has gotten it three times. He doesn't know how he did it. He didn't change the mode or anything. He just played. It doesn't make sense.

It's a random drop. It's not guaranteed to drop, so the only way to get it is to keep spamming the mission.
