I decided to focus on training carpentry. So I want to know how much fine/finest wood costs.
Personally, I have never seen a party ad buying these so I have no experience with how much they are. So anyone have a sense of how much they are?

I'm not sure they'd sell very well (if at all really) since it doesn't have very many uses. I could be wrong though.

I heard they're pretty expensive per stack since they increase enchanting %'s. (As in, more expensive than Holy Water I think).

Well in Tarlach Server
Prices per stack, range depends on supply:
Average: 20k~40k
Fine: 50k~60k
Finest: 80k~120k
Stacks are actually smaller than "regular" firewood (2x2) and I was quite surprised when saw each they contained 10 firewood instead of 5 xD
So x2 finest firewood campfire 8D

who in the world would pay 120k for finest wood. Thats just nuts. Marle I doubt you'd get more than 30k for a stack but doubtful.

Many buyers and few supply, thus the high price. This is just in Tarlach, though.

Does finest actually sell for that much? Damn.
Concerning just carpentry use, here's what firewood you'd be needing, assuming no fails:
Rank 9: 30 fine for finest
Rank 8: 60 fine for bows, 45 fine for finest
Rank 7: 90 fine for bows, 90 fine for finest
Rank 6: 150 fine for bows, 240 fine for finest
Rank 5: 480 fine for bows
Rank 4: 120 fine for bows, 450 fine for finest, 30 finest (+440 fine)
Rank 3: 170 fine for bows, 90 fine for finest, 80 finest (+800 fine)
Rank 2: 210 fine for bows, 99 fine for finest, 130 finest (+1200 fine)
Totals: 2324 fine, 240 finest (+2440 fine)
Numbers in ( )'s are the estimates for fulfilling "fine quality" bow requirements.
Oddly enough, even with the worst case 10% chance of fine bows, for ranks 3 and 2 it's more cost-effective to risk the RNG and just max out fine bows instead of turning fine woods into finests. Even then, you're still going to make 348 finest firewood, which should be just enough for all your crafting needs up to r1 and probably even have a bit left over if you're lucky.
On the other hand...you're going to need thousands of fine firewood, no getting around it. Here's how it breaks down for ranks 3 and 2, 4 you're clearly better off making fine bows:
Rank 3
20 fine wood per fine bow, for 0.8 prof (0.04 per wood)
18 fine wood per 6 finest firewood, for 0.6 prof (0.03~ per wood)
Rank 2
20 fine wood per fine bow, for 0.5 prof (0.025 per wood)
18 fine wood per 6 finest firewood, for 0.48 prof (0.026~ per wood)
As you can see, they're pretty close (plus I didn't take the time to even out the denominators). In any case though, the wood taken for fine bows is worst-case scenario, odds are you'll use less wood than that per fine so it ends up being even better than making finest.
ANYWAY, I guess the point of this was...you don't really have to buy finest firewood at all unless you're using it for enchant burning. Your life savings is gonna be going towards the ~5,000 fine firewoods you'll be using. Tack on another 1,000 or so to factor in failure margin (remember, failing doesn't always take away all your mats)

Well, I'm not sure what server your on, but Mari prices on the housing board are:
Fine: 40K-70K
Finest: 60K-100K
It might be cheaper on the shoping channel (ch4) but I've never seen anyone there sell those. My guess is that they're so expensive because they're kinda rare and boost enchant burning rate a decent amount. I'm not sure though since I don't do much in terms on enchanting.

Thank you for this amazing calculation.
Ya, I did a calculation myself after posting this thread and if I found out I will have A LOT of finest wood leftover.
Although it may be true that it is cost effective to go for fine grade bows according to what you said, I'm going for finest wood since they have more use than ego food that no one is going to buy.
Since finest wood may be sold to others, but no one is going to buy 10dura short bow.
Maybe I will craft some other bows to sell and make profit, but I don't think I will prioritize on fine grade bows.
