Well, Double Rainbow event made things easier for me. We don't know for a fact that Nexon will do it again this weekend but if they do it would help me incredibly.
You see, I reached reached r1 Thunder yesterday and that completes my "build". Got r1 Blaze, IS, MM, Bolts, Capped Meditation and Mana Shield; r1 crit and def; capped Music Knowledge and Comp as well as some life skills (Potion Making and Herbalism).
As you see, I'm ready to rock. The only problem is G13... and the magic "nerf".:T_T:
I have little over 10 AP right now and I can't stop thinking of ranking Fireball. I've read in the forums that monsters in Stage Missions are ice element, so Fireball would work great there. However, I would like to rank Hailstorm when it comes out (which is pretty strong) and Elemental Masteries will be a must.
So, should I save AP or rank Fireball now (considering Rainbow Event will get me well into the number ranks). Also, if you have any other suggestion don't hesitate to post them :D

Fireball is extremely easy to train. If you're not completely set about ranking it, just save up the AP and decide later.

Fireball's more useful than just for Stage Missions, haha.
It's how some people are able to spam Provocation Advanced (for Shock page 1) pretty fast.

I just don't like Fireball, seems boring and slow compared to other magic. I mostly Thunder/IS or Blaze in Prov.

Party members outside of Provocation Barrier Spikes can toss Fireballs over those walls. I suppose Thunder/Ice Spear can get past the walls, but only through splash.
Fireball is really boring and slow, no doubt. Inefficient, maybe. But it excels in preparation-to-dmg ratio, in my opinion.

THIRD OPTION! Do you have Mana Crystallization? It may be worthwhile to rank it up. Granted, I'm not a mage, but I would think that an r1 fireball crystal at r1 mana crystallization would still be a hell of a nuke. Not only that, but it is preparable a LOT faster, making it potentially combat-capable, given some provisions (IS or Frozen Blast may make it more than possible).

Fireball is slow. But there is no doubt its very effective.

I myself find nothing more fun than a bunch of shadow monsters going boom.

well it is your choice of gameplay style.
some prefer slow, but deadly nukes, some prefer barrage of thunder, and some prefer not giving the enemy a chance to move.
If you don't like fireball, then don't rank it.
But if you want other people's opinions, I would rank fireball is nuke is just awesome. xP

Fireball is faster than Thunder if both are cast using speed upgraded wands. A fully upgraded speedcast Phoenix wand also knocks off less damage than a fully upgraded speedcast Crystal wand. Not to mention the single hit property of Fireball makes it lose less damage on high defense mobs (like Ghasts in which Thunder does ~1s). Lastly the single hit combined with critical makes it kind of unstable (in the long run, it's actually the same) but very devastating when it lands.
Preconceptions of Advance Magic are too widespread. Fireball is really overlooked. There's a reason you need all 5 charges to shoot it : because it outperforms in many, many ways. Ice Spear is also overlooked as a power skill, but more accurately Thunder is just really overrated.

Agreed, but Thunder is stronger than Fireball, but it also is overrated indeed. IS is the best Adv Magic IMHO but costs too much MP. Keep in mind that I already have other adv magic at r1 so I'm deciding whether save AP for Hailstorm or Fireball. Which do you think would have a better performance?

Fireball would be nice to have, but I do not have the AP to make it worthwhile. I'd settle with mana crystallization and bumming crystals off my guildie mage who has r1 every magic skill ever (or cap if it has a cap). I'd feed her potions of course. >>
