i know when things blow up, the explosion is supposed to be made out of fire according to common sense. however, i've always doubted that it actually has a fire elemental to it in the game. today someone was using the fire magic shield against the exploding spideys in prov. i asked him why he was doing that and he said that since explosions are fire based, it will work against that. i was like

because of my doubts i've refrained from enchanting my explosion resist equips with fire eles, even though deep down i really wanted to. so who is right?? him or me?? im just hella curious.

Asploshons are neutral if I recall. In a sense, they are their own element since explosion resistances do reduce the damage.

Yar, you're right. Explosions aren't fire. I'm not sure if saying that they're neutral would be entirely accurate either though. But yea, like Kyou said, Explosion Resistance armor will reduce the damage, and that is the only way to reduce said explosion damage I believe.

They are fire, and at the same time, they're not fire. We didn't get much research done last time I brought up a similar topic.
When you use Magic Fire Shield the explosion doesn't stun or knock you back. Magic Shields only ignore stun on the elements that they protect against, any other attacks will just stun as usual. By that logic, it's pretty safe to assume that it does work against explosions.
The damage is reduced significantly - using Fire Shield with Explosion Resist prevents roughly 90% of the normal damage (unless I mixed up the Skeleton Squads in Rabbie and mistook a weak one for a strong one).

If that's not proof enough, then look for a ripple effect on the bubble next time an explosion occurs near a Fire Shield. Or, rank up the skill once and cast it, you'd probably receive skill training blocking it.

Well mana refractor seems to work well against those exploding sprites in Sen Mag Castle. Atleast I didn't get gg'd when I tranformed and spammed wm. :thumb:

i remember one time in sen mag, I casted fire barrier and my friend stood just inside the radius and critted on a wm xD

at least he didn't take too bad dmg since he also had explosion resist, but 3 of the booms still got me xD

at least the booms didn't hurt much... they weren't bear sprites xD those are sooo.... EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL. :p
