Quote from Vt. cops:
MANCHESTER, Vt. - Police say a Vermont man who believed he was holding an air gun shot his sleeping friend dead in bed with a .22-caliber rifle.
Manchester police told WCAX-TV that the two friends were staying at another friend's home Thursday. Police say 23-year-old Nicholas Bell of Manchester was hoping to play a prank on his friend and wake him up with an air gun.
But authorities say Bell ended up firing a shot from a loaded rifle into the chest of 24-year-old Jeffrey Charbonneau of Manchester, and he died.
Bell was arrested on a manslaughter charge and is being held at the Rutland jail. Jail officials did not know if he had an attorney.
Man shoots sleeping friend dead in bed in awry prank; he thought weapon was air gun
Poor guy; meaning to have a harmless prank but accidently killing his friend :gloom2:
I would feel like ****.
Oh and don't used this as gun control; it could just have easily been something else, he happened to choose the wrong one

if you knew there was a real gun in the house that may even slightly resemble an airsoft gun, wouldnt you be cautious enough to even make SURE its the AIRSOFT gun and not the shotgun...? i mean really...that would have taken only 1 minute...

Don't air soft guns have that orange thing by the barrel so it won't be confused as a real gun.

"And then further studies show that the Airsoft gun that the murderer intended to use, was actually an Airsoft Pistol."

Didn't he load the gun?
"Man, BBs these days sure do look like bullets!"

Rule number 1 of gun safety: Do not keep your guns loaded.
Rule number 2: Do not keep your guns in the open.
Normally, common sense wouldn't say, "Look at this gun looking thingy. Gee, this would be so much fun to shoot my friend with." Hopefully he's learned his lesson. I don't know how I'd cope if I shot and killed one of my friends. I'd be devastated.

He must feel terrible.
Why not make a balloon pop, or something? It's also pretty loud, but significantly less harmless.

That's pretty sad.
I feel sorry for both of them.
