I'd really recommend a broom, but if you can't get more Nx, between Shire and Black Ostrich, Shire is better overall - in combat, bag space, summon time and the fact that you can take one more person to ride along with you.

Black Ostrich has faster running speed (thoroughbred is faster of course) but it's really not that great in combat since it uses slow two hits. I'm always reluctant to let mine fight because of this. Horses use two-three hits which kill things faster.

I thought you can't mix Prepaid NX with Credit NX (the kind that comes from the surveys and PayPal).

So unless you have the patience to do surveys to get your 12k for the broom or a Thoroughbred, get a Shire, and save the leftover NX for a Thoroughbred. (Only need one 10k card to do so)

Personally, I would get the Ostrich, just because I use my pets more for convenience (rush at charge speed is ideal for quick trips). However, if you prefer using your pets for combat, get the Shire since Ostriches aren't really effective in compat, esp. compared to the Shire. Also, I'm probably biased, because I felt that a halflinger was pretty slow when I didn't have my Thoroughbred.

I'd get neither. Go buy some NX for 10 bucks and get a thoroughbred and another pet, perhaps a mini bear.
