Don't take the game seriously. Do stuff you normally wouldn't do, even if you know it's probably not gonna end well. Peaca is probably a good one for that, or even a random field boss.
Or in general, just do something you wouldn't normally do because you think it's stupid/not worth your time/you don't like it. Maybe something funny will happen. xD
Amen!

Help Others. Some people can use it.
Random things like a castle dungeon. Run things others wouldnt.

Guild activities and events seem to cure my boredom
If your guild isn't hosting any, try creating one yourself
=] Like the other day mine had a parade through Dunbarton and we all had a lot of fun

Find someone who does have a goal and work hard with them to achieve it. Feels so good to watch someone else be happy.

(Hmm I might takes these advice and do the same...)
BUT ANYWAYS~
Yeah mostly what I do to defeat ze boredom is simply helping people out. I'm over 1k and yet I help people in and outside of my guild on Basic SMs, if not then with a Ciar Normal, Math, Rabbie.
And like most said, set a goal. I currently set a goal for myself trying to keep myself busy, which is training Alchemy, and god yes it keeps me busy.
Err...do what you don't do as common? (did I say that right...?)
BUT IF ALL ELSE FAILS! Take it easy and take a break!

I'm having exactly the same issue. I've got alot of things to do (G11,G12, general training), but no motivation to do it. I log in for the sake of logging in. No really, i log in and immediately abandon my character in the same spot that they appeared in when i log in, usually leaving them for hours. And because i'm in a different time zone to most players, i rarely get a chance to chat or run a dungeon with someone, although i used to do so very often. I just don't know what happened to everything. :/
I've had this kind of boredom early this year and i beat it somehow by meeting new people and doing things i wouldn't normally do. However, a chance to meet someone at all seems even worse now so i'm kind of running around in circles. x.x
I'd do something in life, but i'm done with exams and my Summer holidays are fast approaching, which means that i don't really have anything to do in terms of school. I'm too unmotivated in life to do something like a hobby either. GODWHYSOBORING.
To cut things short, i know how you feel. Gahhh.

Do something you normally wouldn't do. Works for me lol Likeeeeeeeeeee instead of doing dungeons and shadow missions I go pvp or socialize with a random stranger but if they ask you to go into their van say No.

I easily defeat boredom but hanging around in Rano. Exploring, not knowing what I'll get, stocking up on Mp pots and such usually. Running a quick Maiz or Karu for pieces until a field boss spawns. Then I go and nuke 'em with Fireball. It's a pretty easy way to get money too, might I add.
Dragons! I really don't know why more people don't do dragons. Especially Red Dragon. They're difficult but a lot of fun as long as you don't show up last minute like many people do just to get a reward.

As Officer of Candyvan i find that it is my duty to go up to people (normally my friends, but if i'm in a really good mood, strangers) and say: "HAI WANT FREE CANDY? GET IN THE VAN! <3" And normally, they don't resist 8D
