I think the US government was just stupid for letting this happen. What happened to the CIA and all that stuff?

The one working for them was the one that leak it. Seriously why the release of what diplomats think of other people had to be release anyway? That just plain gossiping right there. Also anyone who thought that this type of stuff wasn't happening is naive. This was happening, no country is ever on the good side of the moral spectrum. All has dirty secrets, and considering how much info the guy got, could start a war right there, or in better cases can be sold. The man got power as of now, and the problem that might occur is that he might have gotten himself into more trouble than he can handle. He's not playing with simple gossip and skeletons, he playing with enough info to start WW3, and seeing how North Korea is in a odd position as some of the leaks that was let out was that China hated North Korea as it is (not that it was obvious). Case in point, there is a reason why secrets are secrets. Sucks to be the guys that release it to him though. I'm guessing countries around the world that got hit with the leak ain't going to be to happy to find out who leak out the info. United States already has the guy in custody, and he is more than likely going to get hit with treason, along with every one else who was leaking info in other countries. This make a good spy thriller though. :D

Uh, Wikileaks had the tip from an informant, who most likely was working for the government.

Some loser soldier downloaded the files in Iraq. A lot of the stuff was over his clearance level. Oh and some of the stuff leaked got people killed.

Yeah, and now he is getting put on trial for treason. More than likely, I do know they have him in custody. Not gonna look good for that guy, as that is basically treason right there. Before people go he should be a hero, and the US is freaking evil and fascist or anything like that. Remember this, catching the government with their hand in the cookie jar, is way different than leaking info to another person, especially when your leaking Government, and military secrets to someone else in another country.
