Because the character I play all the time was stuck in a no RB zone for the double rainbow events, I decided to break out my elf that had been collecting dust (aka free RB AP) for the past year.
Current Skills:
Windmill r1 (trained before the double rainbow to motivate a human in my guild to rank his WM to r1)
refine r1 ( <3 double rainbow for mythril fails.)
Production Mastery r1 (I can't believe I forgot to list this when I first posted.)
Critical hit r6
Ranged attack (elf) r9
Crash shot r9
Every other skill is non-existent, rNovice, or rF.
Barring some suggestion that makes too much sense to ignore, I plan on focusing on the three skills I listed. But, having ran out of AP I need to have a clear course for AP allocation, or I'll just end up spending AP on the cheapest ready to rank skill of the three.
First, I set a goal. My goal with her is to maximize her rafting efficiency.
With that goal in mind, I've narrowed my choices to two.
Crash shot: for the increased shrapnel damage.
Ranged: for the increased aim speed. (extra damage being a bonus)
Which do you think would help my goal the most? Or is there something else that I've overlooked that would help more?

Hmm... the extra aim speed, damage and (a bit more) dex from Ranged attack seems like it'd be the better choice of what to rank first.
Plus it'd take less AP, so I'd get that outta the way first.
But don't forget to squeeze dex outta everywhere, like prod mastery, or (x_x) weaving and such.
From what I hear, you need great range as a basis for you crash shot.

Yea, Crash shot requires heavy damage range. Warriors won't even flinch with a -250 max bow damage range from Crash shot shrapnel but you can kill everything else with 250 max bow damage. Not sure the lowest you can go.
Elves do great with r1 Range. Its basically like AR for humans and can make rafting awesome. I know an awesome elf who can get around 15 stars per raft with just r1 range. Its pretty sweet. Focus on r1 range then get Crash Shot to r5 since r5 is pretty cheap.

This made me think.
Basically I am asking what is the best way to increase damage per AP I spent. Now I realize, it's not really a matter of which of two skills are better but which skills increase damage the most per AP spent.
Looks like I will be looking at ranking skills which give at least 1 dex per AP. (.4 dmg per AP; .6 dmg CS shrapnel)
Once I am done with all of those (yay weaving again!!) I'll revisit my calculations.

Looks like your stuck with Life skills D:
Don't forget support shot and its 31 dex for 181 ap.
Equipment can also make a difference. Like an Ego, +max damage Enchants like Topaz, Corundum, Diamond, Raven, Caliburn, etc.
Best Title would have to be Master of Range since it adds +20dex, +20 hp and +30 stam.

The first thing you should acquire is R1 Range.
Elves get a much slower aim speed boost than humans, but this is balanced with their far shorter load time on many ranged skills. Crash Shot, however, does not give elves any load time reduction so if you want to use it for long-range shooting as an elf, aim speed is your biggest concern.
As for damage, ranking skills like weaving and handicraft for damage is a good idea, though r9~5 crash shot even with moderate damage is enough to OHKO anything but warriors (archers and exorcists have incredibly low HP).

If you do lifeskills, generally, you will constantly have stuff to do until your next rebirths because lifeskills take awhile to do for little AP.

I don't know how you even fight with r9 ranged. o_o; You definitely want to get that to r1. Not only will that drastically increase your 1 on 1 dps, but it will let you aim crash shot faster for rafting... Crash shot aims slow enough for me at r1, I can't imagine how slow it is before that D:
After ranged I think that ranking crit would give you a good damage boost. Since you're focusing on rafting it's useful because crash shot ignores protection so you'll be critting a lot. Although you probably want stabler damage for rafting don't you...
