Crit or damage?

I've had this question for a long time actually. Is it better to get more crit or more dmg on a weapon?
I mean on the one hand, if you can crit more, then the dmg you can deal is way higher than if you have higher max dmg and lower crit. But on the other hand, cheap dreamweaver the crit chance is only capped at 30%... >:

Like now, I'm trying to decide to whether have:
1. +8 max dmg / -0.5% crit or
2. +12 max dmg / -4% crit

Also whenever I upgrade a bow, I dunno if I should get:
1. 35 max dmg / 29% crit or
2. 39 max dmg / 24% crit

Honest opinion, for Bows get more crit. The more often you crit, the better your damage is, make sure your Critical Rank is R1, and try to get your critical in the really high zone of 90-100+% Crit. Critical i find, is the most important part of a character period. Critical also determines if you can crit monsters with high protection. Each 1 protection on an enemy, is approximatly 2% crit knocked off your crit % to hit them. So if you had 40% Crit for example, and a monster had 20% Protection, odds are you will never crit it.
Melee is the only fighting style that doesn't need crit, as their high damage / windmill is more then enough.

You only need as much Critical as it takes to 30% in your main encounters if you're an archer.

I would take the former upgrade on that bow.

wm/crash shot weapons, go off with dmg since those skills bypass enemy protection. 30% crit is more than enough
Magnum/smash weapons go off with crit since more crit you have, higher chance you have to crit high protection monsters

Personally I prefer the 39 max over 35. However, I tend to have multiple bows for multiple purposes; if I go crit I go full crit - 15-27 atk with 38% critical, or for damage I'll go 5-41 with 20% critical.

Either way, I assume that's llb.. but if you're range, why not do lb? you can get 10-42 damage with 33% crit, much better than your llb alternative. The only issue is if you have low dex, you'll need about 230+ dex or so to handle the lb with decent balance using that upgrade path. You'll also have to kill yourself on range by -200, but range isn't that important in pve since 1900 is good enough. In terms of looking at where you'll be in the future, or if you're there already, get an lb and upgrade that instead.
