Well today I decided to raft for Mana Herbs and Ingots to sell. Everything was doing fine until I reached the second dock and there was this guy standing there.
He said "Hey I need to hunt Hobgloblins, can you kill them for me please?" And I said "Sorry, I'm kinda busy right now". I wanted to say "but I could help you once I'm done", unfortunately I had a party sign open and he just joined before I could say anything and got on the raft with me.
That really pissed me off. I asked him kindly to leave but he said I needed to give him gold or an axe otherwise he would just stay, then he started begging. I just tried to keep calm and then the raft sank. I put a password on my party and started chopping wood again. >_>
Why are people like this? Can't they understand the word no? Seriously, I felt that was just wrong. Has this ever happened to you?

If you don't want people to join your party just put a password on it. There's always someone who wants their hand held; they won't be getting far in the game and quit as such.

wouldn't kicking him from the party kick him off the raft?

I think it's the same issue with SM's. Can't kick them off the raft.
I always lock my parties with the same password that all my guildies know.

Iirc, you can't kick people who are on the raft.

Or better yet, close your party if you're soloing.

I'm antisocial so i say no to virtually everyone. If someone begs I CC, I don't' care what I'm doing. If someone pisses me off I will ignore them or lash out if they pester me too much. Guildies, decent peeps i know, or my bro and sis are about the only exception to this rule.

Dear people at rafting,
I have to raft alone. Stop asking. @_@

Unfortunately, Mabi is open to annoying people as well.

I just close my parties when I'm soloing anyways...
But if I was in that situation I'd probably just cc or something. That way the noob doesn't get what he wanted. And it's not likely that you'll get a lot of stars with someone leeching half of yours anyways.

I'll never understand why people are compelled to use r and u. Is it really that time consuming?
I multitask frequently and luckily I never see the beggars, and on the off chance that I do see them... multitasking time go!

The moments I remember when soloing giant field bosses always had those kind of people in those.

1) Always put a password on your parties.
2) Ignore them.
At least, that's what I do.

i use "r" and "u" with my friends half the time usually out of pure laziness, along with other shortenings like "dun" for "don't", "iuno" for "i don't know" etc.
on-topic: I was rafting with friends once and these newbies came and begged to raft with us... my friend told them "next run", and when we came back they were still there waiting. My friend was like "oh god", and he made another raft and ditched them instead. We went off again with the kid screaming "BICHES" or something of the sort after our raft. I lol'd vigorously, but it was such a mean thing to do after promising them the next raft trip D:
